Oh hell! I just busted out laughing. Out loud! By myself.

Paula White | 800 comments Yeah Bev - like the Beatles - love the accent! Some of the other northern accents are a not so nice - the Leeds accent is quite odd - well it is to me! I used to go up there for work quite a lot

message 453: by Paula (new)

Paula White | 800 comments Geordie accent can be hard to understand - google Geordie Shore - our version of Jersey Shore!

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Paula wrote: "Bev - you make me laugh! I hear the British accent all day every day so don't see it as anything special! Mind you I do like the Liverpudlian accent (scouse) - anyone heard that?"

I've heard it on YouTube.

I wish I kept track of awesome videos like I do books. There's this spectacular video highlighting the different dialects of different areas in England. And omfg it is hilarious!!! But, shoot, I haven't seen it in years. Can't for the life of me find it again.

*giggle* I love you girls!

John Lennon--great talking and singing voice.
The host of Desert island disc has a lovely voice.
I love Scottish and irish too.

Fabi do you have a Texan accent?

message 457: by Paula (new)

Paula White | 800 comments Oooh yes love the Irish accent - sigh

Ooh Grey. Thankyou. This is one Maryse recced for me and I do want to read it. Sorry I'm late catching up today. I'm just back from my morning walk, and it's also confusing changeover day from daylight saving time so it's actually an hour earlier than it feels now.

Wow. All these comments to catch up on. And I'd better do my pick for ...... drumroll...... FABI! *rubs hands together with glee* This is gonna be fun!

Yankees say yes, southerners say no.

I can lay it on pretty thick if I want to though. It's the only accent I can actually do.

message 462: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments I love accents. I'm Californian born and bred, so there's no real accent except to say dude and like way too much. And overly emphasize words like sooo waaaay, annnnnd... lol (occasional valley girl syndrome) So any real accent just sounds so pretty to me.

message 463: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) I've definitely got an Australian accent. And I do tend to use a bit of Aussie slang and traditional sayings as well.

OK. I've caught up on the discussion. Now, let's do this.

*goes to look at Fabi's Pick For Me list*

message 464: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) OK Fabi. You were pretty easy. I pick for you:

The Last Girl by Joe Hart.

Intriguing dystopian sci-fi. I can't wait to hear what you think.

The Last Girl (The Dominion Trilogy, #1) by Joe Hart

OK, once I finish the bearded one, oops I mean The Opposite of You, I'm gonna start Night Owl :)

message 466: by Ela (last edited Apr 01, 2017 05:17PM) (new)

Ela | 4291 comments I love listening to Charley Hunnam speak! Sigh

I've been told I still have my Polish accent not sure if it sounds sexy or just weird? But it's strange because some notice it and others don't

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Ha! I'm easy!!! *sticks tongue out to all the Marmy Death Club*

Jan, thank you so much! I've been dying to read that one since Maryse mentioned it a few weeks ago. Downloaded it right away, but then came to an abrupt halt when I tried to fit it in to my reading schedule.

Yeah me! I'm so excited. Now it HAS to fit into April. Accountability is my friend.

message 468: by [deleted user] (new)

No accent for me either. Well, no regional accent. I guess someone from another country would say I have a accent.

message 470: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) Yeah see that's the thing. Tessa and bev, you *think* you have no accents, but to me, you'd have a very clear accent. Just like to me I don't have an accent (but I know I clearly do have one to non-Aussies......)

I'm curious if you'll get sucked in and have to read the rest of the series?

Bahahahahahahha "bearded one"

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments I don't understand why everyone thinks he's so good looking. He has this long, pointy chin that's only made worse by all that hair over it.

message 473: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) Oh har har. We know he's all nice and non-pointy under there cos Ela shaved him. Remember.......???

message 474: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments He wouldn't be but SOA made him hot for me, I mean to me

message 475: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments Jan I think Fabi is talking about Charlie???

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Seriously, I'm so jealous of Jan reading Night Owl. It was the first time IN MY LIFE that I've ever written to an author. Blown away. Simply blown away by that book.

message 477: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) Ela wrote: "Jan I think Fabi is talking about Charlie???"

LMAO. I think you're right. I'm reading Killian at the moment and a bit hung up *coughs* on his beard.

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Ela wrote: "He wouldn't be but SOA made him hot for me, I mean to me"

That's what I figured. SOA made him hot. I never got into the show, so never into him either.

OOh goody. Why haven't I read this before? jan asks rhetorically........

message 480: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) bev wrote: "Nay! Nay! NAY! I think I can give the book to more than one person! Do you want it. And its yours and i keep mine."

Yes, bev! What do I need to do??

Jan--I FLOVED Night Owl too! I just didn't read the rest of them because I got upset about the greedy, greedy publishing house charging so much for the next book after we were sucked in...

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Jan130 wrote: "jan asks rhetorically..."

Oh shoot. And I had a whole dialogue prepared...

Kidding!

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Renee, the first book was the best one - by far.

message 483: by Amy (last edited Apr 01, 2017 05:43PM) (new)

Amy (amy_nm) | 140 comments TESSA!!!! I got you!!

So, from your list I've read Sweet Thing (Sweet Thing, #1) by Renee Carlino , Brightest Kind of Darkness (Brightest Kind of Darkness, #1) by P.T. Michelle , and Thicker Than Blood (Thicker Than Blood, #1) by Madeline Sheehan (which of course would be MY pick), but knowing how much you love fantasy and PNR, I am going to go with...

Feyness (Red Order, #1) by E.S. Carter

message 484: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Really? I don't know if I'll ever read the others. It's just that when my copy, which I'd planned to lend to a friend, was made 'unlendable' and I saw that the 2nd book that people were now dying to buy because they HAD to know what happened was $9.99 (at the time, I'm pretty sure that was the price--now it's $7.99, which isn't much better), it royally pissed me off!

message 485: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) What is this 'Feyness'?? This looks awesome! Added to my tbr!

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Renee, imo, the first was great, the second was good, the third was not. :-/

message 488: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Tessa--as I was investigating Feyness, I noticed that the 2nd book in that series, Parasight, came out today! In case you didn't know.

message 489: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Ho hummmmmmmm......

message 490: by [deleted user] (new)

Really? I just think Charlie H. Is a good looking guy, SOA or no. Great smile.

Nay, I need an email ti send it to. You can message it to me through gr if you are ok with that.

Jan, lol. I love regional American accents, but cant help but feel others would find regular west coast ones very bland. I wonder if one visits a foreign country then goes home if they can hear the "accent"?

message 491: by Grey (new)

Grey | 2385 comments Mod
*Squee* we rock so hard!

message 492: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Will send in just a minute, bev.

Well, I have a down-home, hick Tennessee accent. There's no two ways about it. When I went to college in Kentucky they bugged me about it. And everyone in the U.S. has some sort of accent to me.

I also love British and Aussie accents, and I would move to Australia in a heartbeat if I could afford it--I'm obsessed with everything Aussie, especially the cooking shows!

Amy (amy_nm) | 140 comments Wait...are we supposed to send it by PM?

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments No, you're good Amy. They're talking about a book loan. You know we can't ever stay on topic on any thread. ;-)

message 497: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Amy--if you're talking about what I wrote, bev is sending me a link to lend an ebook.
