I added something for you! :)

Our poll will be ending in about 3 days...Please vote on the books you want to read, I will add a poll for the books today so we can start voting.

I like this idea!
I like this idea!

Sometimes I accidentally miss polls, but if you sent us a group email then I either voted if I liked a choice. Sometimes I opt not to vote if the clear winner is something I won't enjoy reading.
ETA Actually, I just voted on the poll for Jan 1, but not for the Agatha Christie (which is a good choice) because I have one of the other books here at home in my library pile to read soon.

thank you for your vote! We may rerun the poll for a themed read later because we didn't get many vote on it.

I started one for you. If you want, you can start one as well. Is that what you had in mind. If not, please start you own thread. :)

I am always looking for free books myself. Do you mind posting what you find under the thread "sharing books"? Is there a way you can compile a list of what you find and post it there? Is that too big of an ask? I think many people would love about free books.

Yes, please nominate some in the threads under Indie books or A list. We will then vote on top books for next group read.

I ask because I want to read Tess of the D'Urbervilles again. It's been decades since I read it and I remember Thomas Hardy being a really hard read. I think one of his books I was required to read (not Tess) I finally gave up and read The CliffsNotes. I know, terrible and pathetic isn't it?

There are so many classics I haven't read. At some point I want to read some of Thomas Hardy's novels. Jude the Obscure is suppose to be good. It got such bad reviews after he wrote it he never wrote another novel. He wrote about things that were shocking in his time like rape in Tess of the D'urbervilles.

Emily wrote: "Personally, I love theme reads and challenges. I saw Karin's previous comment about doing something for the seasons, and I think that would be a fun idea. Maybe a theme read for winter?"
Good idea! Got an idea for a theme? Love suggestions for this, as well, if you have some.

I'll think it over and hopefully come back with some ideas in a couple of days!

Enid we have a historical fiction theme read right now. I've seen so many historical fiction books that address bullying. Especially books based in the late 1800's and early 1900's in the south involving poor children. I probably have a few on my kindle. Then there are those about "indian schools." The possibilities are endless in this category and it's the best way to learn a little history and have fun doing it!
Historical fiction is my favorite genre. I got sucked into it by reading John Jakes Bicentennial Series in high school (yes I'm that old) and haven't stopped since. I've learned more history reading fiction than I did in high school and college combined.
If you tell me what age category you read I can come up with a few suggestions if you would like. When I noticed my daughter wasn't being taught history in school I started buying her books that were historically based and she loved them.

I'm planning to start

Next I'll be going back to the Tudors because I found some books about the lesser know wives. If you're looking for a bully Henry VIII is one of the biggest bullies to ever live. I keep reading about him trying to figure him out. I never will because he was pure insane evil. I also found two about his daughter Mary. For someone so destructive she's been greatly overlooked so I'm looking forward to reading those.
Then I have about a hundred more from all different time periods lined up. I served in the Navy and worked in intelligence so I'm excited about the many books being written about women in WWII who were code breakers and with the resistance. It's about time they get credit for the important work they did. They made it possible for me to do that job.
