I'll read The Lightning Thief. I've already read the 2 others and The Lightning Thief is on my plan for the based on a myth category :)
2. Do you usually read children books?
Yes, 1-2 per month. They are usually fast paced and play with different tropes than YA and adult books, so they give some variety to my reads.
3. What was your favorite book as a child?
Ronja Räubertochter by Astrid Lindgren. I read it several times but not since I'm on GR, so a re-read is scheduled for this year. Fingers crossed!
4. Is there a character from a children book you found really interesting?
The little fire in Howl's Moving Castle because he was important but at the same time he couldn't move or tell important things.
My question: If you could be any Harry Potter character, who would you be?

I chose A Wrinkle in Time because it was on my list to read anyway. I've already read The Witches, and I'm on the fence about The Lightning Thief. I might end up reading it, but my interest in it is pretty minimal.
2. Do you usually read children books?
Not so often, but I'm not opposed to reading them. I actually love to re-read books that I used to enjoy as a child.
3. What was your favorite book as a child?
I had many. I used to be obsessed with The Babysitter's Club. I loved The Boxcar Children. I loved anything by Dr. Seuss and Robert Munsch. I also loved Frog and Toad Are Friends, and other books by Arnold Lobel. When I got a little older, my favourites were The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Harry Potter, and A Series of Unfortunate Events. I also loved the Royal Diaries series.
4. Is there a character from a children book you found really interesting?
Again, there were many. I loved the children in The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, and of course the characters in Harry Potter. I also loved the children in A Series of Unfortunate Events.
5. Answer the question posed by the person above you! - If you could be any Harry Potter character, who would you be?
Definitely Hermione, since I think I already have some similarities to her. Even physically (the way she's described in the books, not the Emma Watson version), I have some resemblance to her -- my hair was definitely very bushy at the time I first read about her. I also love to read and learn, and I liked school (most of the time).
New question: Have you kept any of your childhood books? If so, why?

I chose The Lightning Thief. I read both the other books when I was a kid. I read all of The Wrinkle in Time Series at least twice when in middle school and can't bring myself to re-read again. I vaguely remember reading The Witches in elementary school and being tremendously creeped out, and I don't really want to revisit that feeling.
2. Do you usually read children books?
As a kid I read a ton. As an adult I haven't read any but I read a lot of young adult novels.
3. What was your favorite book as a child?
Of course the Harry Potter series was the first time I really fell head over heels for a series. I also loved The Hobbit, Charlotte's Web, and Ella Enchanted. Oh, and The Phantom Tollbooth!
4. Is there a character from a children book you found really interesting?
I like a lot of girls in my generation really related to Hermione. I also really loved Touchstone from Sabriel. Gollum from The Hobbit is also one of the best creations of literature.
5. Answer the question posed by the person above you- Have you kept any of your childhood books? If so why?
Absolutely, especially the really important ones. I grew up reading my fathers battered and much loved books and look forward to having kids I can pass them on to. I also like a familiar and quick read sometimes and I keep my copy of The Phantom Tollbooth and The Hobbit around for those occasions.
My question: Have you re-read a book from your childhood and had a different reaction to it? Did you like it more, or less? Did you find something new?

1. Which book will you read? Why did you choose this one? I am reading Witches. I have read A Wrinkle in Time and I can't get interested in Lightening Thief.
2. Do you usually read children books?
No I read a lot of YA, nut not much for younger children.
3. What was your favorite book as a child?
The obvious choice was Little House, which I did love but I also loved, loved LOVED the Linda Craig Palomino Mysteries.
4. Is there a character from a children book you found really interesting?
I was infatuated with reading as a child, they were all interesting!
5. Have you re-read a book from your childhood and had a different reaction to it? Did you like it more, or less? Did you find something new?
Honestly, I have reread several of my childhood favorites, and have HATED them. I don't dare read any others and ruin any more memories!

The Witches by Roald Dahl
2. Do you usually read children books?
I have been, lately, as my daughter is just getting to the age to move beyond picture books. I expect that I will read quite a lot of them in the next 5 years.
3. What was your favorite book as a child?
James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl
4. Is there a character from a children book you found really interesting?
I was a big fan of Encyclopedia Brown.
5. Have you re-read a book from your childhood and had a different reaction to it? Did you like it more, or less? Did you find something new?
I reread all 7 books of The Chronicles of Narnia a few years back. All of them were pretty much as I remembered except The Horse and His Boy which was unfortunately very Islamophobic. Even later books in this series, like The Last Battle, are less heavy handed.
What Childhood book has the best title?

The Witches by Roald Dahl I've already read A Wrinkle in Time and The Lightning Thief, but haven't read The Witches.
2. Do you usually read children books?
Not so much anymore. I did when I was a children's librarian and when my daughter was young. I probably read a few each year now. I read more YA books than children's titles.
3. What was your favorite book as a child?
I loved the whole Trixie Belden series including the first book, The Secret of the Mansion by Julie Campbell
4. Is there a character from a children book you found really interesting?
Trixie Belden, of course.
5. What Childhood book has the best title?
I like the title and the picture book, Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey
Who is your favorite children's author? Why?

All 3! A Wrinkle in Time is on my TBR and I've had a physical copy of it sitting on my shelf for a while. It's about time I started the Percy Jackson series. I've read The Witches as a child and loved it so I would like to reread it.
2. Do you usually read children books?
Not too often but every now and then I do. They're usually books I hadn't read as a child.
3. What was your favorite book as a child?
The Harry Potter series, Matilda, Black Beauty, The Princess Diaries series, and Ella Enchanted
4. Is there a character from a children book you found really interesting?
Lots of the Harry Potter characters and Roald Dahl's book characters were interesting.
5. Who is your favorite children's author? Why?
When I was young, Roald Dahl was my favorite author. I just loved diving into the children's fictional worlds he created.
Lots of children's books have movie adaptations. Out of the ones you've seen, which is your favorite and why?

1. Which book will you read? I think I'm going to read The Lightning Thief and A Wrinkle in Time
Why did you choose this one? They fit two prompts for this year and they are my two less favorite prompts. My daughter is also really into Percy Jackson so I thought I'd read that one and I'm hoping I can inspire her to read A Wrinkle in Time.
2. Do you usually read children books? No I read YA but not children's
3. What was your favorite book as a child?Lad: A Dog
4. Is there a character from a children book you found really interesting? Not that stands out
5. Lots of children's books have movie adaptations. Out of the ones you've seen, which is your favorite and why? I wasn't that great of a reader as a child and I just remember starting to read Dean Koontz books so I don't remember reading too many children's books and therefore can't really answer the book to movie question.
New Question: If you could choose to be a children's character which one would it be?

I'll be reading A Wrinkle in Time as I already planned to read that for my challenge. I also found an old copy of it at my parents' house.
2. Do you usually read children books?
Sometimes but usually for work (I'm a children's librarian).
3. What was your favorite book as a child?
I loved A Wrinkle in Time, The Phantom Tollbooth, Harriet the Spy, a bunch of Judy Blume books, and the Baby-Sitters Club books.
4. Is there a character from a children book you found really interesting?
When I was a kid, I thought Claudia Kishi from the Baby-Sitters Club books was the coolest person ever, plus I was always looking for Asian role models. Also Margaret from Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret.
5. If you could choose to be a children's character which one would it be?
I don't really want to be a kid again, and most of the grown-ups in kids books are pretty awful. Co-workers have told me that I remind them of Miss Honey from Matilda, though!
New question: Which children's/middle grade book do you think is a must-read for kids?

2. Do you usually read children books? Not usually, but I have read many and enjoyed them very much.
3. What was your favorite book as a child? I loved Black Beauty and Little Women. I also liked very much a book called Corazón: Diario de un niño, I think is called just Heart in English.
4. Is there a character from a children book you found really interesting? I think the djinni Bartimaeus and his master Nathaniel from The Amulet of Samarkand were both very interesting characters.
5. Which children's/middle grade book do you think is a must-read for kids? Definitely Harry Potter, at least the first book. It's not just a nice story, but also is well written and It's a wonderful example of how a fictional world must be built.
My question: Is there a book that you read as an adult and wished you had read it as child?

I'm going to read A Wrinkle in Time. It was already on my list for a book in the middle of your TBR
2. Do you usually read children books?

I love the Anne of Green Gables series, BabySitter's Club, and Nancy Drew. I also loved Little Women.
4. Is there a character from a children book you found really interesting?
I loved the girls in the Babysitter's Club, particularly Mary-Anne since I could identify with her the most.
5. Is there a book that you read as an adult and wished you had read it as child?
Harry Potter for sure. I was in high school when it first came out but didn't discover them until a few years later. I love them abut wonder how I would have felt reading them as a kid or teen.
My question: Imagine you have woken up in the time period/world of your favorite children's book. What time period/world would you be in and what book is it?

I chose The Witches, because it don't want to start a new series and A Wrinkle in Time isn't available in ebook at my new library.
2. Do you usually read children books?
Not usually.
3. What was your favorite book as a child?
Harry Potter, without a doubt.
4. Is there a character from a children book you found really interesting?
I always was fascinated by Dumbledore ;)
5. Answer the question posed by the person above you!
I'd be learning magic at Hogwarts, probably in Hufflepuff ;)
My question: if you had to write a children's book, what would it be like? (picture book, fantasy, etc. ?)

The Lightning Thief. It was already in my plan for the book based on a myth.
2. Do you usually read children books?
I read some YA books, but it's rare that I'd go younger. I did read The Witches last year.
3. What was your favorite book as a child?
I don't remember a favourite book, but I read a lot of Enid Blyton.
4. Is there a character from a children book you found really interesting?
Probably Mary Lennox from The Secret Garden.
5. Answer the question posed by the person above you!
I'm sure it would be terrible, whatever it was! I'd probably go for something familiar from my childhood reading - regular kids going on an adventure that's just a bit outside normal life, like catching a criminal, rather than saving the world.
My question: Which character from a children's book would you have hated to have known when you were a kid.

1. Which book will you read? Why did you choose this one?
The Lightning Thief I voted for the The Lightning Thief because the plot sounds different from any children's book I've already read.
2. Do you usually read children books?
I don't usually read childrens books. I'm usually exposed to YA stories but not new childrens books. LitCube included a Middle Grade book a few months ago called The League of Beastly Dreadfuls which I really liked. I want to check out the next book in the series.
3. What was your favorite book as a child?
Sideways Stories from Wayside School and Wayside School Is Falling Down. Of course the Babysitter's Little Sister series. And a Series of Unfortunate Events.
4. Is there a character from a children book you found really interesting?
I remember our 1st Grade teacher reading us The BFG and really loving the title character. It really warmed my heart as a child.
5. Which character from a children's book would you have hated to have known when you were a kid.
Well believe it or not I grew up with my own Miss Trunchbull (Matilda) in middle school. I would never wish that on anyone.
My question: Are there any new middle grade books that you know of that you would recommend?

I'm reading The Witches. I've already read A Wrinkle in Time (several times actually, but I reread it about six months ago, so it's fresh in my mind). Out of the other two, this one sounded more like something I would enjoy.
2. Do you usually read children books?
Not usually, but I'll read a few every year.
3. What was your favorite book as a child?
I devoured everything in the Babysitter's Club and Sweet Valley series. I also loved Anne of Green Gables and the other books in those series, Charlotte's Web, The Secret Garden... The list goes on an on.
4. Is there a character from a children book you found really interesting? My third grade self really liked the main character from Island of the Blue Dolphins (who is based on a real person) and I still think she's a great role model for young girls.
5. Are there any new middle grade books that you know of that you would recommend?
I don't really know of many newer ones, but some that were written in the past ten years or so (some of these may be YA, not middle grade): Coraline, The Graveyard Book, The Book Thief,Wonder
My question: After you finish this one, which children's/middle grade book is next on your reading list?

The Witches by Roald Dahl. I re-read A Wrinkle in Time last year and The Lightning Thief didn't seem like a book I really wanted to read this year.
2. Do you usually read children books?
Not usually but I do tend to read a bit of YA every year.
3. What was your favorite book as a child?
All the Babysitter's club books and the Sweet Valley books! I also loved The Little House Collection, The Complete Anne of Green Gables Boxed Set and so very many more!
4. Is there a character from a children book you found really interesting? I found Laura Ingalls Wilder from the Little House books fascinating. I remember that I even did a report on her in elementary.
5. After you finish this one, which children's/middle grade book is next on your reading list?
Beauty and the Beast: Lost in a Book, which is not a children's book but a YA one. I am also thinking of reading Matilda this year.

A Wrinkle in Time - well, it was the only one I could read because I am trying to avoid books written by white men this year (I know people have strong feelings about this, but for me it is an effort to discover wonderful books I might overlook otherwise)
2. Do you usually read children books?
I do actually, although mostly I reread my favorites
3. What was your favorite book as a child?
Probably a toss up between the Alanna series by Tamora Pierce and Across the Wide and Lonesome Prairie (a Dear America books about the Oregon Trail)
4. Is there a character from a children book you found really interesting?
So many! Too many to count
5. After you finish this one, which children's/middle grade book is next on your reading list?
Not totally sure right now. Probably a re-read

1. Which book will you read? Why did you choose this one?
A Wrinkle in Time - This one is also on my list this year for the time travel category.
2. Do you usually read children books? I read a lot of young adult but probably not ones that are classified as children's but I guess that will change this year because I'm finally going to read the HP series.

4. Is there a character from a children book you found really interesting? I guess I'll say Percy Jackson since I just read Lightning Thief
