Tessa | 1761 comments Now you have to read Blur! Forget was awesome, but Blur just made the series memorable.

That cliffy sucked though AND this book made me cry. [spoilers removed]"
Soooo glad you liked it *happy dance* You now need to read Blur - it has to be done, go straight to it and do not pick up another book! Wish I had Blur to read straight after - I had to wait! However, I did stalk the author and managed to get an ARC - we sometimes have to do these things as readers!

Leslie | 2430 comments That is too funny Paula! I would love to pick the brain of all my fave authors. How cool that Robin got to meet a bunch AND will be amongst them shortly when she is famous herself!?! 😊

R, when is the release date again?

I don't have one at the moment. RL keeps pushing it back.

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Yes, Robin...when is the release date?

message 367: by [deleted user] (new)

How about September 1. End the summer of 2017 on a high note.

message 368: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments bev wrote: "How about September 1. End the summer of 2017 on a high note."

I would love that, but I'm looking at 3-6 weeks for my editor and proofreader, and then my own edits - which at that point shouldn't take long. I'm expecting it to come in at 80k so my guess would be a little over a month to turn it around once I send it off to the editor. I was hoping to do that end of Aug, but I'm still going through beta notes and then have the 3 final chapters to restructure.

message 369: by [deleted user] (new)

It has to be when you are ready. It is a big thing.

Just remember that Perfect is the enemy of good.

I always compare it to time travel. You go back in time (ie an early chapter) and make one little change and everything afterward changes too. Even if it's just a mood or the way a character reacts to something. That has been my hell LOL. I feel the end drawing near. Hopefully it's my book's end and not mine.

message 371: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments For September, I am picking a Maryse 5-star read - Making Faces

message 372: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Well - I finished Making Faces, and it was amazing! I want to crawl in Amy Harmon's lap and just have her tell me stories! 5++++ stars...I was blown away by the emotions in this one!!

message 373: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Have you read any of her other books Lisa? They are all great!

message 374: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments I've read a couple others that I loved...but there are several I haven't read, so I have those to look forward to. She is a pretty amazing author!!

message 375: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments I know, I love her! I was going to recommend The Bird and the Sword but see you've already read it. So I'll recommend The Law of Moses and The Song of David. Awesome books!!!!! You will love them!

message 376: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments I finished Darkhouse Darkhouse (Experiment in Terror, #1) by Karina Halle which is one of Amy's faves (and also my "pick for me" for this month).

Although I usually struggle with PNR, this one worked for me!!! YAY!! I am surprised because there was really no romance but it was interesting and creepy.

4.25 ****

message 377: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Ooooo Leslie! I've been wanting to read that and the others I've downloaded.... thinking I will when we're closer to Halloween.

message 378: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Jean, it will DEFINITELY put you in Halloween mood, it was totally spooky! 🎃

message 379: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Starting Black Swan Affair Black Swan Affair by K.L. Kreig which is my pick for Lisa A. (Jean & Melinda also 5***** it)

This was supposed to be my "color in title" book for December, but I have ants in my pants and want to start it now. 😃

message 380: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Angsty goodness, Leslie...I will be watching over your shoulder!!!

message 381: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Lisa, I am only few chapters in and sounds like crazy angst. I love cheating/love trianglish types.

message 382: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Glad I am not the only one. Seems so wrong to admit, but it is one of my favorite storylines. And if my husband is watching, I will cut you if you get any ideas!!!!

message 383: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments Me too me too

message 384: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments I finished Black Swan Affair Black Swan Affair by K.L. Kreig and really liked it! 😊

4 ****

It could have been 4.5 to 5 star but the time jumps (which I usually love) were a bit confusing and would take me out of the story. Otherwise, it was a great, sexy & swoony love triangle.

message 385: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments My 5 star buddy read for October - I'm picking one of DG's favorites, Bared to You by Sylvia Day. Can't believe I haven't read any of those yet!!!

message 386: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Lisa, me neither! That is like a staple in the romance readers world. 😉

message 387: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Sadly Bared to you I only thought was 3.5 stars which I bumped up to 4 cuz I still want Gideon's back story. I think maybe I have read too many of this trope and i am jaded. The sex was pretty damn hot though,

message 388: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) Yeah I haven't read any Sylvia Day either (I know). But I had a look at them recently and I felt like maybe they're (already) getting a bit dated? Or, as you say, maybe we've overdone that style of thing in the last couple of years?

message 389: by Leslie (last edited Oct 10, 2017 03:24AM) (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Lisa & Jan, re: Bared to You & series. I absolutely LOVED first book when it came out. The intense connection they had, and I gobbled up the crazy and drama (cause come on, Gideon is amazing) but back then this was slated as a trilogy. Then book 2 came and that was good but we didnt get our answers. Then book 3 things got ridic. New storylines coming in, more questions...ugh! It just wasnt same story I orginally fell in love with. Then it took YEARS before final books came out! I lost interest and vowed to never read series again til all books released. Perhaps now that all books are out, the reading experience will be different, but I suspect most of us avid romance readers would find this dated/overdone now.

I still haven't finished this series because I was so pissed about book.3 and 4

message 391: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments I tolerated book book 3 NOT the ending and then 4 and 5 were a joke!

message 392: by Nay (last edited Oct 10, 2017 09:02AM) (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Grey wrote: "I still haven't finished this series because I was so pissed about book.3 and 4"

Me too, Grey!

I was so mad about book 3 just being a bunch of yada. It seemed like filler after she got the deal for the 2 extra books. I never went back either, and from the sounds of what you're saying, Ela, its a good thing!

ETA: I was also loving her Renegade Angels PnR series, which she had to put on hold--forever, apparently--because she got the Crossfire book deal. I'm still pissed about that too! lol

message 393: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments I gotta be honest, I dont think I will read another book of hers. 😔

message 394: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Ok guys, it appears I have bitten off more than I can chew in my many 2017 challenges. 🙁 I LOVE doing them but commited to too many. So instead of making reading enjoyable, it is stressing me out. 😣

So for sanity sake, I am surrending this one. *hangs head in defeat*

Nay (4ukcats) That's great, Leslie! No sense in stressing yourself out and you got a heck of a lot more read than I did! Looks like you had great luck with most of these!

message 396: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Thanks Nay! I hate feeling like a slacker. I actually LOVED a lot of them. The Ground Rules was awesome. I am considering revamping my star ratings. I hardly ever do 5 stars because most things will never be as good to me as Twilght/Thoughtless etc. So I even when I love something new, I feel like it isnt 5 star worthy. I think I need a 5+ shelve for the ultimate faves and then I may bump my 4.5 ratings to 5.

Don't feel bad Leslie. I gave up on all of them months ago. Way too much pressure! I'll probably try again next year, but keep my choices super limited.

message 398: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Thanks Robin! One of the main issues is a tbr challenge from other group I am in. Between that, this one, the two challenges a month for this group, monthly BRs in my other groups, its too much. I am a mood reader and dont want to feel forced to read a certain a book you know?

I also took on too many challenges this year. I haven't had as much time to read. Lowering the number of books on my yearly challenge helped with the stress. It was depressing to see "you are 15 books behind schedule" every time I logged in.

Leslie | 2430 comments Right Anna??? Too much pressure. Reading is supposed to be fun.

My motto for 2018 is going to be: "Read whatever the *bleep* you want, whenever you *bleeping* want and however much you *bleeping* feel like!"

How's that sound? 😉
