Book pushers? Who? What? *whistles, points to bev* Must be her!

message 115: by Nay (last edited Mar 28, 2017 05:16AM) (new)

Nay (4ukcats) I missed out on an entire day of internet interaction yesterday because I was at the cardiologist/endocrinologist from 5:30 until about 4 and was completely worn out last night. So I still haven't done my picks, but I'm getting it done today for both challenges. I have NO dr. appointments or rehab today and I'm so excited to just be able to stay home and do NOTHING!

I'm loving all these lists! And you are so right, Robin--it's so exciting to see my friends reading books I loved just by their own choosing. And people seem to be picking a lot of books that I read years ago that I would consider 'originals' in this indie book explosion. The ones that many have tried to copy but that just can't be duplicated!

message 116: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments I'm really happy to see DG loved Transcendence as much as me and my BSM and HBSFFL!

message 127: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments I made my Pick For Me list but it was like 70 some books. I narrowed it down to 50 something. Is that too many? Isn't it better to have more choices? And who picks when?

message 128: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments I am so darn confused - these two challenges seem to have morphed into one big happy mess.

So let me make sure I understand.

Challenge #1 - Five Star Challenge. We pick one book that each of our Ho Bags for Fucking Life has marked as a 5 star read, and commit to reading those this year. List of people to pick from was supplied by somewhere up there!!

Challenge #2 - Pick For Me. We set up a list of however many books we want and make a new shelf. Then each month our selector tells us who is picking for who - i.e., Bev picks for Ela, Robin picks for Nay, Grey picks for Jean, blah blah blah. Then you have to read the book that month that your person picked for you from your Pick Me List.

Did I get all that right?

message 129: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments That seems totally right Lisa!

message 130: by [deleted user] (new)

Except for the ho bag part, yes.

So a good appt???? You're doing well I hope??? Take it easy, lady! And that's an order!!!

message 148: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Yeah, it went well. Still having to check my blood sugar 3 times a day and do insulin 5 times a day, but that's because of the drugs I'm on. After another month or two, that should stop. I got the call today that my rejection level is R1 after two weeks at R0. Still really good as they were surprised I had two weeks at zero rejection anyway. They've starting backing off on my anti-rejection meds, so it makes sense.

Now I'm trying to get my lists done. My pick for me books are going to be OLD like Ela's and a couple of others I've seen. Books I've put off reading for-ev-er!

message 149: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Oops, it's actually in the wrong one! That's the pick me list. Grey, I chose out of yours Beautiful Stranger. :)
