Andrew | -5 comments Anyone read this yet? Different from most Trek novels. Enjoyed diving deep into Vulcan culture.

Kreg (ktasay) | 2 comments It was a decent book, particularly if you want to learn more about Vulcan history. The isolationist movement aspect should seem illogical to Vulcans, but is given a plausible explanation. I gave it 4 stars.

Amelia (amelianichole) I read it, and then purchased the hardcover :D I think it is a great book indulging my curiosity of Vulcan history and at the same time an interesting plot. :)

Bill | 16 comments I recall purchasing this in hardcover when first released, in 1988. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, it came with a frameable print of the book jacket. It was interesting to have a story with Sarek & Lady Amanda. The audio book version is abridged without the history of Vulcan included, it's 1 of George Takei's better readings.

Lizzie | 81 comments I read it back in 1988 when it was released. I like Diane Duane's creativity in the Star Trek worlds. In 2004 an omnibus of Spock's World and Sarek was released called Sand and Stars Sand and Stars by Diane Duane .

I don't do audio books. I can see how the back and forth between the present and Vulcan's history would be difficult to follow in audio. But, to miss out on the history that the author created for the planet and culture would be a disappointment for me.
