~KarenH~ | 11338 comments Hi Enqi!

Our tastes seem to be quite different, so browsing through your shelves was really interesting. I wasn't familiar with much of what is on your preferred shelf, so most of those picks are based on either the cover or what I could get from GR's description. I tried to give you a variety of styles and genres from the new picks since your read shelf is pretty small and again, not much I'm familiar with, so it was hard for me to get a good feel for what you might like. I hope I came up with some options that interest you!

Green Eggs and Ham:
TBR: The Great Hunt
New: Exclusively Yours

Pippi Longstocking:
TBR: The Dark Days Club

Nicole P | 3200 comments Hi Elke,

So I started and here are my thoughts (I'll update throughout the month):

Where The Wild Things Are
✯ TBR: Return of the Bad Boy by Jessica Lemmon (05/04) ★★★★ - I've had this on my TBR list forever and I forgot how much I love the characters of The Cove. This was the perfect end to the series, with the bad rocker falling for the straitlaced, tough as nails manager.

Pippi Longstocking
✯ NEW: The Navy SEAL's E-Mail Order Bride by Cora Seton (05/04) ★★★ - I loved the banter between the two MCs at the beginning when they were exchanging emails and eventually moved to Skype. Interesting way to get a bride in modern times. I look forward to reading how the other three brothers land up with wives.

Winnie-the-Pooh
✯ TBR: Three River Ranch by Roxanne Snopek (14/04) ★★ - it was ok. Not great. I learnt a lot about wild horses and the different breeds, autism and therapy dogs. The two MCs are thrown into a situation neither one of them anticipated but do the best under circumstances. I doubt I'll read the other books in the series but at least I get to tick this one off my TBR pile ☺

Green Eggs and Ham
✯ TBR: Endurance by Amy Daws (16/04) ★★★★ - this is absolutely hilarious! I love the hate-love troupe and this book had the added bonus of a hot soccer player. The two MCs were wild and crazy. They were explosive when they came together. The whole family was awesome. I'm now going to backtrack and read the first book in this series and then try to patiently wait for the other brothers books.

Dog Collar Knockoff (Lucie Rizzo Mystery, #2) by Adrienne Giordano

message 135: by Alexa (new)

Alexa (psreadthisbook) | 313 comments Hello Pamela, I have gotten to 3 of your recommendations so far, and hope to get to a few more.

Him (Him #1) by Sarina Bowen 5/5 stars. I adored this book. I ended up reading the sequel right afterwards as well.

Till Death by Jennifer L. Armentrout 3/5 stars. I thought this was a really good book... I just expected more of something, but I'm not sure what.

The Hooker and the Hermit (Rugby, #1) by L.H. Cosway 2/5 stars. I just really disliked the heroine in this book. I actually didn't like many of the characters. I will read on in the series though, because the one character I did like is the heroine in the next book.

Thanks, for the recommendations!

Nancy H | 1111 comments Hi Danielle,
I just finished my second book, The Lower River The Lower River by Paul Theroux . It was okay, but not nearly as good as I expected, and turned out to be very depressing, actually. However, I have had it on my TBR since forever and really wanted to read it, so thank you for the nudge to get it done - one more off my stack, lol!

On to the next one!

Rachel C. (rachelus) | 611 comments Lekshmy, just read Lady Luck (wasn't at Breathe yet so substituted the one I was at :)) and it was pretty awesome as always. It was a little longer than I remember the other two feeling, but it was still good! Hope to get to at least one more book by the end of the month

Sonja (sonjac) | 1364 comments Finished my first book for this month's PIFM!
Little House in the Big Woods TBR - Midnight on Julia Street
Definitely a historical novel here with flashbacks to pre-Civil War times, though it was primarily set in pre-Katrina New Orleans. It took a bit to get going on the book (time warping is a difficult topic to write without confusing the reader some), but by about 30% in, I was hooked! The author writes in such a way that really gets you into the rich diversity of the culture in the Big Easy both then and now that you could almost feel the oppressive heat and hear the jazz music playing. I've been to New Orleans before (also pre-Katrina) and enjoyed revisitng some of the places I'd seen. Definitely on my recommend list, though not quite a 5 as it took a while to hook me. Solid 4 tho!

Fran | 12278 comments Hi Kat!

I finished two of your picks for me. I read How to Howl at the Moon, a new pick, and thought it was cute! Very different take on shifters. I also read Stripped Down, from my tbr. I really liked Melissa, and her banter with Wyn was a lot of fun.
Thanks for the great recs! If the PtP allows for it, I may be able to get to another one this month :)

Mindy (mybradybunch6) | 31 comments I finished my first book The Governess Affair. I loved the strength of will of the main character. The fact that she does get a HEA made my day.
Thanks for the pick Karen H.

Real quick-Did you see April the giraffe had her baby? So cute.

Now that the important stuff is out of the way, adoring your picks so far.
Good reading month. Strap in for exclamation points.

So star ratings mean different things to different people so I'm just going to rip-off that ice cream place for a ratings system...

Gotta Have It
Her Every Wish- Milan:
Amazing! Was a shorty but so great! Inventor/ entrepreneur characters wonderful! Love a historical with regular ole people!

Love It
It Takes Two to Tangle- Romain:
Dandy as an audiobook! (view spoiler)

Like It
Under a Texas Sky- Garlock:
1930s West Texas & Golden Age Cinema- not a lot of romance books out there with that setting....note: if there are, send them my way, please & thank you!

Virtue Falls-Dodd:
Geologist/ Tsunami enthusiast & FBI agent- super! Was kinda nervous at first because do NOT read a lot of suspense lately & was starting to remember why... but all worked out in the end... hope Native American/coast guard lady has the book next- she was fascinating.

& Bless It's Heart...
Sarah's Child- Howard:
Whole lotta nope. Honestly think I should've been more patient with this one now looking at it's publishing date (the 80's) but....no... there are sooooo many other books out there so dnf it is.

I did see that April had her baby and he is the cutest thing ever! I love giraffes and the babies are so adorable!

I loved your rating system, especially your last one :) That gave me a chuckle. I'm sorry it was a disappointment, but you're right - there are so many other books out there. I'm glad, though, that some of them were enjoyable.

Happy Reading!

Mindy - I loved that about the heroine too! Wasn't that a great read? Highly recommend the next book, The Heiress Effect, it's probably my favorite of the series! And I adore both main characters!
