Zakle | 104 comments This will be hard to find, I imagine, because I never had the chance to read the book. I was in a bookstore looking around because it was going to be closing soon when I came across a book I thought was interesting. I left without buying it, thinking I could buy it the next day. Obviously, this is not what happened--when I returned the next day there was only a handful of books left with the book I was looking at long gone.

I remember it being about the dead and it had a woman protagonist who likely worked at a morgue. I think there was something about potions or some sort of chemicals involved with the story.

The cover, I think, was darkly colored with what appeared to be bottles.

I'm pretty sure it was a mystery novel and was set in the past. Maybe victorian?

Cricket (clutzycricket) | 9 comments A Dissection of Murder is possible- it is about an early female autopsy surgeon, and at least one of the covers matches your description.

I had no hope of ever finding it again but I think you went and did the impossible. Thank you!
