It definitely is worth the read if you're into Russian history and such. I just went into expecting something other than what it was, so ended up somewhat disappointed.

Actually as you describe it, it could provide perspective to today's Russia.

I appreciate the heads up on what it's about. I bought it several years ago as a Daily Deal - still interested in reading it but like going into it with a better understanding of what it's about.

I had a lot of trouble deciding how many stars to give this book, because some parts I loved, and others not so much. This isn’t about the book or the story itself though, it’s partly my fault that I found this such an uneven read. I thought this was a book about Chernobyl–and only about Chernobyl–and that’s what I went into it thinking. But it’s about the Russian Revolution in general during that period. So while I loved the parts relating directly to the Chernobyl disaster, I didn’t really care so much for the rest–but again, these are just my tastes and interests.
