bubblewaffles | 780 comments "Oh thank you, Roblin, ever so much!" Madeline said in a sickly sweet tone that made her sound like a character in a 1950s Country movie. She was quite happy but didn't mean for it to come out rudely, she just had that certain demeanor and aura that made people feel that way about her.

Zoë Potter Fowl Jackson (potterfowljackson) | 669 comments Roblin gave her his best death stare, rolling his eyes. "Just take off the gloves," He mumbled, looking disgusted at the mess on the roof. "Sorry I messed up." He said, sitting down and resting his elbows on his knees, sighing and putting his head in his hands. "Again," He added, voice muffled.

message 353: by bubblewaffles (new)

bubblewaffles | 780 comments "That's okay." Madeline said, sitting down next to him.

message 354: by Zoë (new)

Zoë Potter Fowl Jackson (potterfowljackson) | 669 comments "No, it's not!" Roblin said, looking up at her. His fringe was mussed up from his hands, and streaks of ash and solution were smeared around his cheeks and forehead. "I wanted to get this right..." He trailed off, looking away from her.

message 355: by bubblewaffles (new)

bubblewaffles | 780 comments ((Ugh, this is giving me serious Rhea and Lena feels, except the difference is that Madeline ain't a villain. Okay, well at least she isn't totally evil.))

"It's okay, you can't always expect to get everything right on your first try." Madeline pointed out, remembering the times that she tried to murder people but totally failed and she smiled. It was a cold smile, but it was a smile nonetheless.

message 356: by Zoë (new)

Zoë Potter Fowl Jackson (potterfowljackson) | 669 comments "Yeah, but this isn't my first try," Roblin reminded her, looking dejected. "And I've been doing this since I was five!" He added, trying to wipe off his face with his abandoned cloak. Running his fingers through his fringe absently, he clenched his jaw. "I guess..."

((Nightfall comes out tomorrow!!!))

message 357: by bubblewaffles (new)

bubblewaffles | 780 comments ((WHOOP WHOOOP))

"Don't worry, just a couple more tries and you're bound to get it right." Madeline said. She punched herself. Why was she such a sap?

message 358: by Zoë (new)

Zoë Potter Fowl Jackson (potterfowljackson) | 669 comments Roblin raised an eyebrow, scooting away from her. "You okay? Did you inhale some of the fumes or something?" He asked, tempted to grab her wrists just to stop her from hurting herself. Then again, that wouldn't be good for my own health.

message 359: by bubblewaffles (new)

bubblewaffles | 780 comments "I'm pretty sure I didn't." Madeline frowned. It wasn't like her to be nice, even less to be nice to a student.

message 360: by Zoë (new)

Zoë Potter Fowl Jackson (potterfowljackson) | 669 comments "And this isn't my first try, I already messed up before." He smiled forcibly, fidgeting with his shirt sleeves. "You know what they say, third times the charm."

message 361: by bubblewaffles (new)

bubblewaffles | 780 comments "I say, fifty-four thousand, three hundred and one time's the charm," Madeline replied honestly. Life wasn't easy, and she had to deal with that. She was younger than him, so he should've been able to deal with that too.

message 362: by Zoë (new)

Zoë Potter Fowl Jackson (potterfowljackson) | 669 comments Roblin raised an eyebrow, which was partly singed in the corner from a previous experiment. "Wow, thanks for the vote of confidence." He giggled, despite being surrounded by a combination of spilled potion ingredients, chewed and mangled note pages, maggot guts, and ash.

message 363: by bubblewaffles (new)

bubblewaffles | 780 comments "Well, it's the truth, you know?" Madeline pointed out. "You can't ever expect everything to go your way. There will be more failures than successes, but the successes will outweigh your failures." She looked around at the mess that sat on her roof floor, cursing under her breath in Italian.

message 364: by Zoë (new)

Zoë Potter Fowl Jackson (potterfowljackson) | 669 comments "You do realise you do that, like, all the time, right? Roblin pointed out. He stood up and grabbed a sprig of spilled knot wood, tossing it in the failed potion. He continued doing this until the potion was filled to the brim, and the roof was clear of abandoned ingredients.

message 365: by bubblewaffles (new)

bubblewaffles | 780 comments "Do what?" Madeline asked, bending down to pick up some of the stuff leftover from their testing. She was going to be scolded by someone later, she knew it.

message 366: by Zoë (new)

Zoë Potter Fowl Jackson (potterfowljackson) | 669 comments "Start talking to yourself in another language or whatever it is you're doing." Roblin started stacking the jars into a little pile. Once he had made a pyramid, he used a gust of wind to lift the pile till it was next to the stairs. Then he started making a new stack, slowly clearing the roof bit by bit.

message 367: by bubblewaffles (new)

bubblewaffles | 780 comments "I don't do that all the time." Madeline rolled her eyes, playfully shoving Roblin a little bit as she waited for him to finish picking up and respond.

message 368: by Zoë (new)

Zoë Potter Fowl Jackson (potterfowljackson) | 669 comments Roblin raised an eyebrow. "I swear you've done it seventeen times today alone." He said, smirking. "Hey, it's cool. We've all got our little... quirks." He teased, stacking the last jar. He stood up and started moving the piles down the stairs. "Hey, a little help?"

message 369: by bubblewaffles (new)

bubblewaffles | 780 comments "Fine." Madeline stood up, grabbing three jars and slowly heading down the stairs. "Besides, this is already a minimum."

message 370: by Zoë (new)

Zoë Potter Fowl Jackson (potterfowljackson) | 669 comments "So, just checking..." He clarified, setting down a particularly large stack at the bottom of the stairs. "Is it safe to assume you could be saying anything under your breath? I mean, I'm no expert on what passes as a typical conversation with yourself. But I've got a pretty good imagination."

message 371: by bubblewaffles (new)

bubblewaffles | 780 comments Madeline raised an eyebrow. "I do not have conversations with myself. I just like to express my...anger under my breath. You do it in your mind, what's the difference?" She scoffed, walking slightly faster, reaching the bottom and placing the jars down on her table.

message 372: by Zoë (new)

Zoë Potter Fowl Jackson (potterfowljackson) | 669 comments Roblin tried to hide a smile, knowing full well Madeline would not be happy if he laughed at her. "Cute," He said sarcastically, and began sorting the jars on the ground in front of him.

message 373: by bubblewaffles (new)

bubblewaffles | 780 comments Madeline did a small smirk-ish smile and replied with "As are you. But not it the ways that everybody else is." and bent down, starting to help Roblin sort the jars.

message 374: by Zoë (new)

Zoë Potter Fowl Jackson (potterfowljackson) | 669 comments Roblin had to hesitate there. "Wait, back the t-rex up. What is that supposed to mean?" He said, opening a cupboard at random. It was half full with empty pots, so he shoved the cauldron inside.

message 375: by bubblewaffles (new)

bubblewaffles | 780 comments "Nothing." Madeline snapped. "That is not where everything goes!" She pulled the cauldron out and pushed in the empty pots. placing the cauldron under her desk.

message 376: by Zoë (new)

Zoë Potter Fowl Jackson (potterfowljackson) | 669 comments Roblin groaned, reluctantly added his own pile of empty pots to the cupboard. He preferred his own room, he had his own system there. He stood up, filling the labeled spaces on her shelves with the appropriate ingredient jar. He cringed when he realised how much he had used. I'll figure out a way to replace them later.

message 377: by bubblewaffles (new)

bubblewaffles | 780 comments Madeline sighed, sitting down on the floor next to her bed as she grabbed under her bed for a jar of fresh mallowmelt. She pulled it out and offered it to Roblin. "Want some?" She asked. She was quite hungry after the experiment and desperately needed something sweet to eat.

message 378: by Zoë (new)

Zoë Potter Fowl Jackson (potterfowljackson) | 669 comments "Um, yes?" Roblin said. He put down the last few jars in his hands and instead sat crosslegged across from Madeline. "I swear you've got an infinite supply under there. What's you're secret?" He leaned forward to tear off a huge chunk.

message 379: by bubblewaffles (new)

bubblewaffles | 780 comments Madeline let out a dark laugh, leaning forward so he could reach the jar easier. "Besides the ones my parents gave me, you wouldn't want to know, trust me." She tore of a small chunk and ate it up.

message 380: by Zoë (new)

Zoë Potter Fowl Jackson (potterfowljackson) | 669 comments Roblin took a bite. "I think I'm pretty close. I've narrowed it down to either-" he held up one marshmallow covered finger. "An army of imps under your bed. I'd say they sneak around taking mallowmelt." He took another bite before continuing, raising a second finger. "Or, you've drugged me and I'm eating dirt right now."

message 381: by bubblewaffles (new)

bubblewaffles | 780 comments Madeline laughed a more light-hearted one, and it was louder. "Why would I spend all of my time digging dirt from my parents' garden? 1, that's stupid, and 2, I'd get in trouble." She ate a huge bite, it was her favorite thing ever to eat.

message 382: by Zoë (new)

Zoë Potter Fowl Jackson (potterfowljackson) | 669 comments Roblin smiled, taking his time to finish his bite before swallowing. "Fine then. You were expelled, had wayyyyy too much time on your hands, and devoted yourself to making mallowmelt. In those few weeks, you not only deprived the whole city of it's marshmallow supply, but made the house stink of burned mallowmelt at the same time." He leaned forward for another handful. "What? I'm trying to be more realistic."

message 383: by bubblewaffles (new)

bubblewaffles | 780 comments Madeline rolled her eyes. "A better way is that my mom makes jars for me, plenty of them, and I save them up, because I rarely even eat five jars a day, she's just a little crazy with making food for me." Whatever Roblin was thinking of was not only unrealistic but also crazy and kinda extremely unrealistic. "Besides, you couldn't just assume that other people make it, could you? Your imagination is crazyyyyy."

message 384: by Zoë (new)

Zoë Potter Fowl Jackson (potterfowljackson) | 669 comments "Don't tell me you've never been expelled. Not even suspended?" Roblin leaned back against her bed post. "I haven't known you for that long, sure, but you aren't the type to listen to teachers." He straightened up. "And more importantly, who wouldn't eat mallowmelt three meals a day? Sounds wicked." As if to make a point, he licked a large gob off his finger.

message 385: by bubblewaffles (new)

bubblewaffles | 780 comments Madeline rolled her eyes again. She swore her eyes were 50% drier than they would've been if she hadn't invited Roblin. "Suspended, at least," she started to count on her fingers. "Twenty-seven?" She sounded a little uncertain. "Ehh, they let me back anyways and I never do anything too stupid." She took some from his jar, licking her fingers clean. "You'd break all your teeth within the first ten." She replied, dead serious.
