Fall of GiantsThere is so many great books listed, but I have read most of them. Nothing explains WWI like this book. It really showed how this war was so much more about an archduke being assassinated along with a cast of characters from many different areas of the world. I can't think of anything more suitable with the anniversary coming up.
A Thread of GraceThis is an amazing book set in World War II Italy. Different, well-written, and very good for discussion -- and then there's great information about how the author made some of her writing decisions to look forward to when you've finished it.
I'm sure I'm too late to get any momentum on this one, but I've had Cherie Priest's Dreadnought sitting on my shelf for a while now. It's the second book of the series, but my understanding is that it's quite separate plot-wise from the first book.
