Blueberry (blueberry1) The Case of the Missing Books

Israel Armstrong, educated as a librarian in London but employed in a bookstore, takes a job in Ireland to run the library. When he arrives he finds the library has been closed and he is expected to drive a mobile library instead. However, he soon discovers all 15,000 library books have gone missing and he is expected to find them.
I think this was trying to be a cozy mystery but it made me uncomfortable as in the whole environment: no one friendly, weather cold and damp, and Israel couldn't wait to leave and go back to London where his girlfriend , who never returned any of his calls was. Also the story tried much to hard to be funny with misunderstandings of the spoken dialects.

Blueberry (blueberry1) Yes, the answer was not one I would have guessed so that was a plus. But it was really an afterthought. :(

Amy | 12916 comments I think Lady Linda just reviewed this book this morning. Maybe separately from the thread, you should tell me what happened to the books, as I'll never read it...

I didn't review this book this morning - I was on the golf course.

I did read this book in 2007 - I think it may have been for PBT when we were at Shelfari. I rated it 2 stars. I don't see my review - it may be that it didn't transfer over - but my rating is there.

LibraryCin | 11684 comments I knew I read this a while back, but was surprised to not see my review here or on LT! I found it in my old Word document and added it in last night. I liked it more than most, it seems. I gave it 3.5 stars. I liked it.

Amy | 12916 comments I mixed you with Cindy's review earlier that day. Is one of three of you going to private message me to tell me what happened to the books? I'll never read the thing, but now I think I have to know the fate of the 15,000 books. I hope you enjoyed your golf day, Lady Linda. No golf here. Shoveling and sledding.

Regina Lindsey | 1005 comments Hmmmm....I had added it to my TBR back during foreign lit tag (I think). Doesn't sound like I will be moving it up any time soon.
