I'm looking for someone to swap stories with, share opinions, talk through rough plot points/all that fun jazz. I'm serious about all my projects, and hoping to find someone else with a real love for their stories.

I write historical fiction, mostly, but it's a big goal of mine to make my stories accessible and relatable to non-history enthusiasts as well. As for my critique partner(s), I will happily work with almost all other genres. However, I should say upfront that I'm not a big fan of sci-fi or distopian lit, so my reviews would end up a little biased.

My projects: I have a completed manuscript I'm looking for feedback on, and a sequel that I'm roughly halfway through that I would love to talk to someone about as I progress.
Both novels take place during WWII, the first is set during the Battle of Britain, about a Polish Air Force pilot, while the second is set in Warsaw four years later with many overlapping characters.

Please message me if you'd like to swap/critique. Tell me a little about your projects, and we can start out exchanging a few pages. Hopefully it's a match, but if it doesn't click, no hard feelings.

Cheers!
Anna

Raymond Williamson | 8 comments Hi Anna,

I'm a bit of WWII history enthusiast. The polish twist sounds interesting.

I'd love to swap if you willing to read my YA fantasy.

Hey Raymond,

Sure, a swap would sound great! Would you like to exchange chapters by email? Mine is AWCardiff@gmail.com. I've worked with google docs in the past, which is nice because it has the comments feature, but I'm open to other thoughts.

Raymond Williamson | 8 comments Hi Anna,

I was just going to email you a word doc.

williamsonraymondpaul@gmail.com.

What are you looking for? I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to beta reading.

A potential publisher told me that there were some inconsistencies in my narration perspectives and conflicting voice.
It was suggested that some of my vocabulary and content was borderline too mature for 9-13 year olds.

Sure, a word doc will work fine. I can either give you feedback chapter by chapter, or when I am done reading the whole thing, whichever you prefer. And no worries, I'm pretty new to beta reading as well.

For my manuscript, I'm interested in overall interest, whether the characters are engaging. If you have any background knowledge with WWII (RAF, Battle of Britain) you are more than welcome to point out any and all mistakes I may have made in my research.

So, you're looking for feedback on narrative voice, POV, and whether or not your content is suited for your target audience (ie, 9-13?)

I can send you my manuscript as a word doc as well, sometime today or tomorrow.

Abby Vandiver | 9 comments I would love to have a writing buddy. I have so many books in my head, and sometimes I just need someone to talk about them with. I've written a historical fiction novel, but wouldn't need help with that. Right now, I write cozies. Let me know if you're interested.

Hi Abby!

Sorry for the late reply. Were you thinking specifically swapping sections for critiques, or talking to work out elements of stuff we have in progress, because I'd be totally open to either!
