Introduction
Hello everyone,My name is Liesbet, born and raised in Belgium and since 2003 perpetually on new adventures, by camper, sailboat, car or as house and pet sitters. My husband and I are currently in the United States.
I've always loved writing (initially in Dutch, but the last decade or so in English), have kept a diary since I was 15, wrote many blogs and sailing articles and am now working on a memoir about an eight year cruising journey with my husband at a critical time in our lives - 24/7 in a small space, dealing with health issues and running a business while sailing throughout the Caribbean and South Pacific.
Working on a book-size manuscript is new to me and I don't have any literary background, so it is trial and error. I enjoy reading non-fiction, specifically travel memoirs and books about the writing craft. I am looking forward to reading Chapter to Chapter. Of course, I like reading novels as well, but, unfortunately, do not find the time to do so. Life boils down to priorities and choices! :-)
The IWSG is an awesome group and I think this book club is a great idea. Since I am constantly on the road and in new locations, I have no physical (writer) friends or peers. I am excited to join this book club and look forward to learning from experienced writers and to sharing thoughts and opinions about the books and the craft.
Have a great weekend,
Liesbet

It's wonderful when people can write (as well as speak) in other languages. I wish I could. :)
Welcome, Liesbet!!!!
Hi,Thanks Chrys, for the invitation to join IWSG. My name is Michael; I write as E. Michael Helms. I've been published in a handful of genres since 1990. Jump over to my Goodreads page and take a gander if interested. I'm currently writing a mystery series. Four books in the series are out, and I'm currently "stuck" about halfway through #5 (HELP!). I'm under contract for one more (#6). After that, who knows?
Glad to be among others of my own ilk, and hope I can provide an occasional word or two to help. Best wishes to all!

Hello everyone. I'm Brian and I write science fiction, fantasy, horror, and poetry. My current novel, which was self published in March, is called Rajani Chronicles I: Stone Soldiers. My biggest problem is finding the time to write. ☺ Hope you're all doing well tonight.
Hi there!I saw the link for this group on the IWSG's Twitter feed, so I decided to join.
I've been successfully published under another pen name/genre for some time now, but decided for a variety of reasons to jump genres in a big way. That alone has me feeling insecure. I'm basically starting over from scratch and as a result, questioning every move I make.
I write mostly paranormal and urban fantasy romance. I'm working on two series at the moment: a modern day one centered around a paranormal security agency which deals with problems in the shifter community, and the other is a pre-cursor to that series set in the 1950s in which the protagonists collect and catalog mysterious artifacts while at the same time helping people deal with the fact their dormant shifter genes have been activated.
I'm working so hard on getting material out under the new pen name that I feel I'm missing out on other aspects of being a writer, and as such, thought it might be a good idea to join this group. :-)

We're glad you saw our Book Club mentioned on Twitter. Thanks for joining!

Welcome to our book club!
And please keep in mind we do not allow authors to promote themselves in this group. Thanks!
Hello, all! I joined this group when Chrys started it but didn't get a chance to read the first book so I'm just jumping in now. I have been a member of the IWSG blog hop since the beginning and I think it's fantastic that the group now has a book club. I write paranormal suspense/mysteries and also children's books. I've been interested in getting more involved here on Goodreads for a while so I thought this would be an awesome way to start. I am looking forward to connecting with the writers I already know from blogging as well as those who are new to me.
So glad I joined as I loved reading The Secret Garden and am excited about the upcoming discussion. Awesome to be here! :)

Hi, all! I'm Madeline, and I write mostly dark fiction and horror. I've got a number of published stories out in the world in addition to two of my own flash fiction collections, The People We Used To Be and Garden of Lost Souls.I'm a big fan of the IWSG and all its encouragement and support!
(Chrys, thanks for the invitation! Sorry it took me so long to join. I tend to hang out in the shallow end of the pool, waiting and watching everyone else before I jump in. Lots of scary things lurk in the deep end. :))
Madeline wrote: "Sorry it took me so long to join. I tend to hang out in the shallow end of the pool, waiting and watching everyone else before I jump in. Thanks, Chrys! I already have the club's selection on my iPad, and I'm looking forward to reading it.Chrys wrote: "Madeline wrote: "Sorry it took me so long to join. Hello from Michigan! I have 2 romantic suspense books traditionally published and non-fiction books I have self-published.I have enjoyed participating in the IWSG blog hop for several years and watched the group grow every year not only in the blog hop, but in publishing anthologies and developing their own website as well as winning awards.
So many writers offer support and advice filled with wisdom to each other through the blog hop. And it's a great place to unload your insecurities too realizing you are not the only writer facing the same problems.
Looking forward to the book discussion and meeting even more wonderful writers through this opportunity.

Glad to see you here Michelle! Now, I know this is the party for me! BTW, where's the good booze?
Good morning, everyone! My name is Elias, (aka Tuttle N. Tejas). I write crime, specifically the heist/caper sub-genre. My insecurities are myriad but the board of directors are a lack of confidence in my mastery of story mechanics, arrogance in my approach, (it's complicated) and my fear that I may be WAY late to the party.
The Insecure Writers Group has been a balm for my troubled soul and as with any new environment, it's always good to see friendly faces. I look forward to learning from you all. A community of writers is a blessing.
Thanks for the invite, Chrys. You're aces.

And fun to find out your real name! Welcome to this "branch" of the IWSG.
Hi,I came here through IWSG on Twitter. They liked some post I did, I followed them, they followed me back, and next thing I know I'm invited here...
What do you write? Mainly spec fic - horror, fantasy, sci-fi - and humour (my one published novel is humour). Also a bit of poetry and, lately, of all things, I had a romance picked up.
I think that's me. Hi.
Hello Steve. Welcome to Poetry. I love science-fiction, but haven’t read any in a while. I was stuck on the classics, Asimov , Bradbury and Arthur C. Clarke and was afraid to be disappointed ! How about poems on science-fiction ? I’m sure there aren’t a lot of those out there !
Susan wrote: "Hello Steve. Welcome to Poetry. I love science-fiction, but haven’t read any in a while. I was stuck on the classics, Asimov , Bradbury and Arthur C. Clarke and was afraid to be disappointed ! How ..."Thanks, Susan.
My poetry tends towards humour or memoir (though I have written some horror), and I have a semi-regular poetry gig in our local rural newspaper. But sci-fi poetry... could be worth thinking about! ;-)

Well, we are certainly glad that IWSG on Twitter liked your post, which led to a domino that brought you here. Welcome!

Gerardine wrote: "I found IWSG through a new year resolution to post on my blog one a month, email, then I connected on Goodreads, so here I am."Welcome, Gerardine! We hope you enjoy the book club. :)
Hi.....I hope it is ok that I am posting here as the last post is dated 2017. If this group is no longer in operation, please let me know. I am starting my memoir and hoping that writing will become my next career. I look forward to all the experience and information and stories that all of you are brave enough to post, and hope to contribute. Marie
LOl...Note to self.....scroll to the bottom of the page before you makecomments on the date of the last post, or ask if the group is still in operation. My bad. But I am very happy. Marie
Hi, Marie!I did a double take before I posted too. :-). I am working on a Memoir too. Happy writing.
Welcome Marie. Any thoughts on Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier ? What kind of books do you enjoy reading ?
Marie, can I be your friend on Goodreads ? Your profile is set to private, so I thought I’d ask first. Have a lovely Sunday.
Gerardine wrote: "Hi, Marie!I did a double take before I posted too. :-). I am working on a Memoir too. Happy writing."
Lol. Thank you for telling me that! Makes me feel a little less dumb. Hope your memoir is moving along. mjk
Susan wrote: "Marie, can I be your friend on Goodreads ? Your profile is set to private, so I thought I’d ask first. Have a lovely Sunday."HI.....yes, we can be friends on Goodreads. I sent you a request. I am still working on the profile stuff and the bookshelf stuff and all the setup information. Since I am new to the group, I have not read Rebecca. I love historical fiction, books about writing, WWII stories, women adventurers. Have a lovely Sunday too. mjk
Recently I have been reading the White Queen series, by Phillippa Gregory. Do you know of them ?
From Henry VI, Edward IV, Richard III to Henry VII and Henry VIII, and focusing on their wives. Really good, I thought and historically accurate. TV series made from the books, great. I will be starting reading them again with the White Princess, Henry VII ‘s bride, shortly.

Thanks for the suggestion. I do own the other Boleyn Girl, but have not yet started it.
I am reading WWII historical fiction called "An Orphan's War", by Molly Green, and loving it. It kept me up way too late last night.
Marie wrote: "Hi.....I hope it is ok that I am posting here as the last post is dated 2017. Take a look at our home page for what we've been up to. We just read Rebecca and have a discussion up for it.

Welcome, Lisa!
Hi, Everyone! I'm Louise Barbour (Fundy Blue). I joined this group not too long after it began, but I haven't done anything but read most of the books. I joined because I am a member of the IWSG, and I do what I can to support this wonderful writing community. I primarily write non-fiction and am currently working on a memoir. I also have some fiction WIP. I have a lot fewer insecurities as a writer having been a member of the IWSG! I've published a short story, quite a few newspaper articles, and have been blogging (Standing Into Danger) for seven years. I retired in 2012 with a long list of things I planned to do, but I haven't gotten beyond writing, reading, photography, traveling, cooking and working out. I hoped that this club would push me to read excellent books that I might not have read otherwise. That hope has definitely been realized. I need to read almost as much as I need to breathe. Today I get to pick a new book, as I finished "Guernsey" late last night ~ oh joy! I read widely in many genres, and I have one little "genre" that I enjoy, that of reading books of fellow IWSG writers. My all-time favorite book is "Lord of the Rings" by JRR Tolkien, followed by Dan Simmons' series "The Hyperion Cantos." I read a lot of children's literature, and my all-time favorite children's book is "Kokopelli's Flute" by Will Hobbs, closely followed by Deborah and James Howe's "Bunnicula: A Rabbit Tale of Mystery," and Anne Frank's "The Diary of a Young Girl." I'm looking forward to being more involved with the IWSG's Book Club. Happy reading to everyone!
