Reason for Entering Gauntlet: Cass really has not had any interest in running the Gauntlet, but to be honest, she could not fathom the idea of leaving Nora to run it on her own. She knows what happens in that race, and being fiercely protective, Cassie would not think twice about dying for her friend. Obviously dying so Nora can win isn't the goal, ideally they would both live through the Gauntlet -- Nora as a Gaurdian... Cass as whatever happens to you when you lose. It's not like she really has anything to leave behind besides Nora, so why not, right?

Other: Cass knew she had an affinity for fire when she was quite young -- in stressful times in her life, she would just close her eyes, and feel a wave of heat across her skin. Sometimes she could almost smell the smoke of a wood-burning fireplace, or even hear the crackle of the sparks shooting off the wood. Where some people might imagine fire to be chaotic and raging, Cassie has always found it to be quite peaceful.

Nora's dad is someone big and important- his name cannot be disclosed at this time- but he's big enough that every month he sends her mama a check. Hush money to keep quiet about their little affair and the fact that he has an illegitimate. But that's never been enough for Nora, she's always wanted more. She's wanted to know her dad, to at least talk to the man that gave her half of who she is. After all, she knows everything there is to know about her mom. So there are still so many questions! Does she not like broccoli because he doesn't? Or is it just a Nora thing? Does he like crappy music the way she does? Does he dip his fries in a milkshake the way she does?

See? She has a lot of questions, and she's got it into her head that if she manages to make something of herself then he'll be proud of her.
