Mama X (mamax) I had a lot of reserves about this book. Sorry, but I'm going to post my entire review so that you can see what I mean...

I read the Mortal Instruments series and fell in love with the Shadowhunter world. So I decided to read Infernal Devices. I really enjoyed the book, but it wasn't as impressive as I had expected. I didn't really fall in love with the characters like I had hoped I would, except for Jim. I really thought the sweet, strong, calm air of Jim was nice. But Tessa and Will were not impressive. Also, I really wanted to see more of Magnus, but he's barely in this one. However, I foresee that he will be in the next book a little more.

At first I gave this book a 4 star, but then I realized I was only giving it a 4 star because I love the author and the Shadowhunter world. I really didn't want to read the second one, but I did because I was dedicated to my book club. It won in the BOTM polls, so I read it. The more I contemplate it, the more I realize it's really only a 3 star.

EDIT: January 2, 2015 - I just realized that this review is still set at 3 stars! There's no way after finishing the series that I can possibly let it slide with less than a 4 star!

Mama X (mamax) So you might wonder why I went from 4 to 3 to 4 again... well... Clockwork Princess!!!

here!

Farren (mmmcookies) | 857 comments I didn't like this book a year ago because I LOATHED the audiobook narration, but I'm glad I gave it another shot. I rated it 2 stars before but now it's more like 3.5-4. I normally hate historical fiction, but Clare didn't make the whole book about propriety and marriage so it was easier to deal with. And Jem. Let's not even pretend he isn't 85% of the reason I enjoyed this book.

I cannot stand the audiobook reader either.
