      I don't think I was too engaged at the beginning of the book. I would have to re-read the first part to answer this question.
    
  
  
  
      She thought of the two groups as the light (the Divers) and the dark. The dark group, under conventional sun umbrellas, were predictable, envious of the other group, gossipy and gauche. They recognised Rosemary and treated her as a celebrity. The other group seemed much more interesting and effortlessly glamourous, using a collection of parasols under which to sit. I was attracted to the description of the Divers, too, and would have wanted to meet that group just as Rosemary did.
