It's a rather short book - 236 in my paperback. I'm enjoying it though. Very reminiscent of classic SF stories.

It's also cheap to add on the audio if you buy the ebook. Combined it's cheaper than a credit.

Nicholas | 4 comments I just finished A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab and it is easily in my top 5 favorite books.

message 154: by Phil (new)

Phil | 1452 comments Just finished Armor by John Steakley. This was like 2 different books mashed together and there was maybe one ok book in there somewhere. I've seen in several places people have said this is a successor to Starship Troopers and The Forever War but I don't think Armor lives up to those books. I just didn't think it was very well written.
Starting The Far-Out Worlds of A. E. van Vogt.

I agree with this assessment.

Aaron Nagy | 379 comments Just finished Precipice, it's official the first book in the series was not a fluke. I'm still debating between giving this book a 4 or a 5. But I do know for a fact that it deserves the cliffhanger of the year award already. Which is what I assume what some of the 1s-2s are about...people don't like cliffhangers this big.

My reading still continues to be a struggle, but I did two more audio books:

I Am Malala: The Story of the Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban ★★★½ ☆- (My Review)

The Collapsing Empire ★★★★☆ - (My Review)

Trike | 11190 comments Loved Bookburners. Secret Vatican strike teams taking on demons!

Didn't care for Zero Sum Game. Great opening scene, but straight downhill from there.

Ooh I have that in my library haul!

Robert Lee (harlock415) | 319 comments No other science fiction/fantasy this month other than the pick. But finished Alexander Hamilton and The Plot to Hack America: How Putin’s Cyberspies and WikiLeaks Tried to Steal the 2016 Election. I'm in the middle of both Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race and A Colony in a Nation. So I'm hoping for a nice little fantasy to win for the April pick.

Shad (splante) | 357 comments Thinking about giving up on Deadhouse Gates and the entire Malazan series. While I do enjoy it when I do read it, I find myself not wanting to read it. Decided to reread The Way of Kings in anticipation of Oathbringer later this year.

message 162: by Iain (new)

Iain Bertram (iain_bertram) | 1740 comments Just finished reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn ★★★★★ to my son. It's a brilliant read and I can see why it is considered a classic (a hell of a lot more fun than Dickens, although I never had to read Twain as a high school student).

Currently churning through Death's End and looking forward to next weeks read. Just picked up a book called Pilot X from Ink Shares.

message 163: by Rick (new)

Rick Reading The Sudden Appearance of Hope and just finished Precious Dragon which continues the fun in Liz Williams' Inspector Chen series. Oh and finally got around to reading City of Blades.

message 164: by Silvana (new)

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 1803 comments @Shad: Deadhouse Gates was also my last Malazan book but somehow I know I try rereading that.

Continuing my Frontline series bingeread with Angles of Attack. I love Marko Kloos!

Walter Spence (walterspence) | 707 comments Just added as my commute book the audio CD version of You're Never Weird on the Internet, voiced by the author herself. Much fun.

message 166: by David H. (new)

David H. (bochordonline) Clarkesworld Magazine, Issue 126 edited by Neil Clarke. I hadn't realized I hadn't specifically said I read this issue this month. A so-so issue for me--I did really like the article about SF short fiction markets in China, though.

A Wind in Cairo by Judith Tarr. Set around 1175 in Egypt and Syria, Hasan is turned into a horse (due to his crime) and made to serve his family's enemy's daughter Zamaniyah (who is awesome). Probably the first Tarr novel that featured horses so heavily, which is really funny to think about now (considering Tarr now lives on a horse ranch).

message 167: by Dara (new)

Dara (cmdrdara) | 2702 comments I finished Pilot X by that Tom Merritt fellow. I enjoyed it! My review. Once again, not sure what I want to read next.

message 168: by Misti (new)

Misti (spookster5) | 549 comments Finished Abaddon's Gate. It was awesome! Now I'm off to finish Gateway.

message 169: by Trike (new)

Trike | 11190 comments Picked up Alif the Unseen at the library today. I love Wilson's Ms. Marvel comic, so I'm hoping the quality continues here.

I went the other way. I really loved that book that it made me want to read her Ms. Marvel run.

message 171: by Joseph (new)

Joseph | 2433 comments Finished The Lies of Locke Lamora and will immediately be progressing to Red Seas Under Red Skies.

message 172: by Jeff (new)

Jeff Tales from the Perilous Realm by J.R.R. Tolkien. It's like 1940's urban fantasy told in fairy tale fashion.

message 173: by Kelli (new)

Kelli C (kellimcassell) | 73 comments I finally got around to reading Leviathan Wakes. Why in the world did I wait so long? I loved every second of it. Now I'm reading Caliban's War but I probably won't finish it this month.

One of my goals for this year is to finish up series I've started and enjoyed but for whatever reason never completed. I finished book 3 in The Grisha series (Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo). I thought the series ended strong. I enjoyed it.

message 174: by Kristina (new)

Kristina | 588 comments Finished Ancillary Sword.. it's been a while since I read the first one... but I'm pretty sure I liked this one better. Starting A Gathering of Shadows next.

message 175: by Silvana (new)

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 1803 comments My copy of Brian McClellan Sins of Empire has arrived *bye world*

message 176: by Trike (new)

Trike | 11190 comments I just received notice that both The Invisible Library and The Collapsing Empire are being held at the library. Yet I'm only 1/4 of the way through Alif the Unseen! Book panic!

John (Taloni) Taloni (johntaloni) | 5193 comments Change your default reading period to three weeks, get 'em both, and par-tay!
