Elizabeth | 15 comments I am trying to remember the name of a children's book that I loved as a child. The book is about 2 girls and their favorite tree. I believe the tree is an apple tree, and they use the fruit to make pies, etc. The girls like to play and swing in the tree; and one of the girls likes to sit in the tree and draw. For whatever reason, the tree either comes down on its own or has to be cut down. The girls are sad over the loss of the tree. Their father manages to make a desk for the girl who liked to draw out of the tree, and I seem to remember that they also salvage the swing that used to hang from the tree. That's all I remember... it was just a really sweet book and would like to be able to remember it and share it with the children in my life.

bookel | 4027 comments What year do you recall reading it earliest? 2000? 1990? Early 1980s? Etc. This will provide a maximum year. Was it new or older at the time? This will estimate a minimum year, which I usually set as 1950 if the book was not new or the second question is unknown, unless it was even older.

Elizabeth | 15 comments My mom probably read this to us somewhere between the years of 1987 and 1992. If seemed like it was fairly new at the time... and I'm judging that based on the newer appearance of the book. I also seem to remember that in the illustrations the family wore 1800's period style clothing. Another unique feature I remember about the illustrations is that it seemed to catch my attention that the family lived in a barn/house, with the animals below and the family living quarters above.
