Suggested
break down of reading so that you can check in and let us know how you're doing. The following breakdown is purely a suggestion and is therefore not set in stone.Rather than putting dates for each section I've done it so that it takes into account that not everybody will necessarily have the book at the same time.
Week 1: 62.5
Week 2: 62.5
Week 3: 62.5
Week 4: 62.5

Have you started yet? How does Martin Freeman compare to Stephen Fry?

Yes I've listened through about 6 chapters. :D
Martin Freeman does the various character voices like Stephen Fry, but since they have different voices, pointing out the obvious on that last statement lol, I was a little confused when Freeman started Zaphod's voice. I actually had to google that character, and I felt really dumb afterwards once I realized who it was lol.
But so far that's the only person I couldn't recognize! Freeman is making me slightly fangirl, and giggle a lot! Lol. Freeman also while reading the narrator parts, isn't as monotone as Fry. Not that Fry is a monotone type of person, I just like Freeman a lot more.. which is saying a lot because Stephen Fry is amazing!
After listening to the audiobook a bit further this morning, Freeman I've noticed used more of a goofy aspect to multiple voices. They also have him use more auto tone, voice changer type equipment for robots, auto ships, etc than Fry used. Or maybe they did that in editing, but regardless there's more of a futuristic feel to the voices.
As for the story I'm struggling keeping track of what is going on lol. It's not necessarily the jumping around that is distracting me, it's the parts where characters are being funny and talking a lot, joking, discussing an intense moment for minutes rather than seconds that is getting me lost in text.
We are about to start the third week of March so I thought I'd check in. Sounds like this book is a fun read!

Part of me wants to continue on to book 3 soon, yet part of me wants to take a break lol. I just get lost in his books, so I think I'm going to take a break from it for a few months. :)
Thanks Mary Pat and Lindsay!
Just a gentle reminder that March will come to an end in a few days and April buddy reads will start soon! Hope everyone finds a new discussion to join!

This book was a little.... hm, it was kind of a "drag" lol. It was good but I struggled with it. I think I'm going to take a break and pick up book 3 later on in the year.
I'm sorry I missed the March deadline for posting. I have read this series several times and absolutely loved it, but this time around I am really struggling to get through it, I'm not sure why. I'm going to go on and finish the series, but I think it may take a while. It's just so strange that it's such a quick read, yet at the same time it is taking so very long!
