I finally completed the book. My week ended up being busier than I liked. I didn't figure out anything else about the mom. Overall I liked the book. Ryzek was a great character to dislike! I will read the next one when it comes out although this book did not live up to Divergent like I was hoping. I don't like Akos' mom either. I agree she seems shady. That's one of the things I noticed in this book that paralleled Divergent. Four's Mom was shady too. That part where there were apartments that were missing one wall was like where the factionless lived.

Yes Joan, I can see the resemblance. I'm glad you liked the book. Yeah, Divergent was definitely better but both interesting.

I'm glad you liked it. I will be reading the second one as well. I really want to find out what the deal is with Ryzek and Cyra. What does he know?? Akos' mom seemed like such a good mom in the beginning so I also want to know what's up with her. Can't wait to find out!
