Task 5.2 specifies certain locations in the US (New York and California). A book that is set in the US generally does not work for the task.

Task 5.2 - The "short book" allowance states that "One book between 80 -99 pages may be used for ONE 5 point task." A 76 page book does not work. See Rules of the Challenge

Also, please check your totals - you note 2 5 point tasks claimed, but the post only includes 1 5 pointer (disallowed above).
That gives you a total of 100.

Kevin (naughtonkp) I just wanted to check on a Golden Oldie ticket. I claimed one in post 813. It looks like the GO tickets readerboard is up to date through post 850. I didn't see a post indicating an error here, so wanted to follow up per the instructions in the readerboard post. Thanks!

Just an FYI - for task 5.3, you cited the number of pages in the kindle edition for a BB ticket. We do not use ebook page numbers. The paperback edition has 568 pages, so meets the requirements for a BB ticket - no need to repost, this is just to remind you of SRC requirements.

When I posted the book for the challenge, Children's wasn't on the main page. I double checked when posting it because I was surprised by that. Even now, when I click on the book, there are only three shelves showing on the main page. This is what shows up for me:

Fantasy 36,872 users
Young Adult 12,609 users
Fiction 9,832 users
See top shelves…

So if the top shelves are inconsistent from user to user, how are we supposed to know when to look further than what is showing on the main page for the book the we see?

well, when you know you're posting a childrens book, instead of just hoping that the genre won't show up at the time of review, you could go ahead and post the necessary info for use of childrens books.

I personally don't believe that this book or any of the later books in the series are children's books. They are far too dark for children. I check every book I read to see if children are listed on that main page. It wasn't just a "hoping that the genre won't show up" situation. That is part of the process I go through before I post any book here. I check adult books, young adult books, middle grade books, and everything else. My surprise that children's wasn't there was more of a "wow, people finally wised up that the goblet of fire and later books aren't actually children's books." Not a "let me see what I can get away with for the reading challenge" situation. And so my question still stands. If it doesn't actually show up on the main page for everyone, how are we supposed to know to look further? Should every book now be looked at in the AR Finder with the rating posted just in case for some other people there is a shelf called children on their main page? Even when you pull up the list of shelves for this particular book, "children" isn't found until the 15th shelf. More people shelved it just generically "Harry Potter" than "childrens". 5 times as many people shelved it as "Young Adult" than "children".

that is, of course, your choice.

However, it's not a question of "for some people" v. for other people. The number of main page genres varies, for the same person. I can look at a book today and see 3 genres, and look at it tomorrow and see 10. I raised this with GR when I was there in the fall, but couldn't get an answer as to why this is. But it's not a case of your getting a special set of genres that's different from other people's.

When you see only 3 or 4 genres showing, however, you can pretty much bet that it will change to 8 or 10 genres showing, within a day or two. At that point, something that wasn't there at first may well be there later. So, if you just ignore the reality (whether you personally agree with it) that it's frequently listed as childrens, you run the risk that that will change before your post is reviewed.

And, if you look at the shelving on the first long page, you'll see that many of them are not shelves that are going to show up on the main page - "to read," "owned,' etc.
