Hey gorgeous ladies,
Thinks have changed so much lately with woman becoming a part of the world conversation. Not that we haven't always had our opinions, it just seems that men are starting to notice in a bigger way. What's a great book you have recently read about this subject, or anything similar?

Vicky N. (vicky216n) I recently read We Should All Be Feminists and was struck by how true it is. It is a very short essay, a half hour read, but definitely worth it.

Jessica I'm rereading The Handmaid's Tale, I'm excited for the series on Hulu! This book is 30 years old and as relevant as ever (if not more).

Hi Jessica,
I loved that book! I think it's really interesting to see how although it was written a number of years ago, it still feels relevant today. I didn't know Hulu was the one making the show. I will have to keep my eye out for that. Thanks for sharing.

Claude Forthomme | 4 comments I would suggest Siri Hustvedt's The Blazing World:

The Blazing World
The Blazing World by Siri Hustvedt

By the way, Siri happens to be Paul Auster's wife and I think she is just as talented as he is. In this amazing book she explores the art world and how it is incredibly tilted AGAINST women artists. You can find an interesting review of her book here in the UK Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/books/201...

A memorable quote that the Guardian reviewer repeats is this one:

"All intellectual and artistic endeavours," writes the female painter-protagonist of Siri Hustvedt's new novel, "even jokes, ironies, and parodies, fare better in the mind of the crowd when the crowd knows that somewhere behind the great work or the great spoof it can locate a cock and a pair of balls."

Indeed. Everyone thinks Great Art is Man's Work. It is not.
