Casey I love this book so much and the book tell you no goal is to big

Melissa Coyle This was a lovely book that had many wonderful things to teach young people about character. I loved this book!

Natalia I loved it! I love finding books like this so that I can pass them on to my kids and hopefully they like them too.

Melissa Coyle I've always loved discussing the book with them and looking up words that had special meaning.

Heather Bergstrom Magical. Wise. Teaches bravery and empathy. Fun. Funny. Beautifully written. Suspenseful. Triumphant. What is not to love?! One of my very favorite novels for children! I think perhaps certain parents might find some of DiCamillo's books too serious, sad, or tragic for kids. Even Despereaux has child abuse in it. But good triumphs in the end. Bravery is rewarded. And this book, like I said, is funny! Hysterical actually. I most highly recommend it! I think my son was about seven when I first read it to him. Some of her other books, like The Tiger Rising, for example, are for older kids. I am still, after all these years, cheering on Despereaux in his quest.
