Justme | 256 comments Just wanted to double check/verify:

My theme is vacation near the water, so I've chosen dunes on a beach:
Book 1: Rainshadow Road (Friday Harbor, #2) by Lisa Kleypas

and next to a lake or pond, relaxing in the sunshine:
Book 2: Dream Lake (Friday Harbor, #3) by Lisa Kleypas

Thanks!

Lucky you, Quinn, dibs on honorary grandchild. All of these will work. Remember you can use the same location twice so two of these will end your search.

Boy, beds have given me fits for this task. Here's my assessment, Cathy. She's on some sort of large, raised surface that's about the height of today's dangerously-high mattress/box spring combos. It's covered with something that could well be a white sheet with gentle fabric folds and the walls are rental unit white. So we're going with bed for this one.

Shanna_redwind | 754 comments Will this work for reading at a restaurant?
Brownies and Broomsticks (A Magical Bakery Mystery, #1) by Bailey Cates
It's at a bakery, but they often have somewhere to sit and eat and read.

Deedee | 2344 comments Will this work? She's sitting on a chair outside on a nice day.

I would not sit on the arm of a chair, though, I'd sit IN the chair :)

Striking photo, though, some folks just know how to pose for the camera. Enjoy it, Deedee.

I'd be happier if there was a chair, or wide window ledge, or even a big floor pillow. If you read sitting on the countertop next to the cat (shivering and hoping I never eat there) it's a very reluctant yes, Shanna, eww.

message 113: by Shanna_redwind (new)

Shanna_redwind | 754 comments Would this work better for reading by the fire instead of sitting on a counter by a cat? Is there enough fire showing that it works? Snowed in at the Ranch by Cara Colter

That works, though I doubt you'd get much reading done, :-)

Melissa (balletbookworm) | 915 comments I love to sit in my reading chair (which is sort-of like a chaise longue since the seat part is extended). Would this cover work? The Day of the Duchess (Scandal & Scoundrel, #3) by Sarah MacLean She's sitting on a chaise, although one that is much fancier and daintier than mine (mine is covered with cat hair, made of a sturdy gray tweed, and has an indent from my backside).

Sorry, Meg, it looks more like "I read at a clandestine airstrip as I wait for the drug smugglers/mercenaries/love-struck-kidnapped heroine to make an escape". It does look as though this book would make real world airport delays less tedious, however.

We already have a princess and the pea clone, Tien, so yes, and climb carefully.

message 123: by Nick (new)

Nick (doily) | 3392 comments Would these work? Are the interiors different enough (one a coffee shop, one a restaurant at an Inn -- though it could be any table beside a window with a nice view)?

30.5 Jonquil’s There is No Frigate like a Book
Book 1. I do a lot of reading at a local coffeeshop. I read a book with a coffeeshop on the cover, On What Grounds (Coffeehouse Mystery, #1) by Cleo Coyle On What Grounds by Cleo Coyle.
Book 2. I have moved Fogged Inn (A Maine Clambake Mystery, #4) by Barbara Ross here because its cover depicts a table loaded with food and anyone sitting here would be looking out a window at a peaceful scene. Whether at a coffee shop/diner or not, this is the type of place I like to read.

Nick, just be specific when you post on book 2: diner OR restaurant OR cafe, and you're good to go. (just an aside, both books may be in a coffee shop)

I really need to see someone smile today, Meg, so we're going to imagine that this is the bullet-riddled plane that got Book Concierge to her cruise on the Titanic. Pack your parachute.

Actually, I've visited the homes of Nashville's well-to-do with a party-planner friend, and that IS what desks look like in their homes. So slip on your evening gown and jewels and have a pleasant reading evening, Emily.

Julia- Definitely a plane. In Nashville, the tourist-neighborhood buses are designed to look like streetcars, so that fuzzy photo looks like our buses. Either/both will work.
