Amber wrote: "Does the place need to be a real place? I'm wondering about Welcome to Braggsville in particular."
The task specifically states that "The place may be real or imaginary" - from the description, it appears that Braggsville is a town, where much of the action takes place, so it's fine.

well, it doesn't matter if it's a real place. Is it a town/county/whatever with some sort of governmental structure?

Hi! Would Carolina Moon work for a book set in South Carolina? I'm not sure if south has to be in the title too in that case. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your help!"
sorry, no, "Carolina" doesn't actually identify the place - too broad.

Aunt Dimity is a ghost in these books and that is the only name she goes by."If Aunt Dimity is a character (you know, talking to the other characters or something), then it works. If it's just "what would Aunt Dimity do?" then not."
Aunt Dimity is a ghost. She and the m.c. have dialogues throughout the book.
For option 1, what about a nickname in the title? Trying to fit in Raptor, which is the nickname/callsign of the main character in this book.
Vicky wrote: "For option 1, what about a nickname in the title? Trying to fit in Raptor, which is the nickname/callsign of the main character in this book."
it works if this is the name that the main character is called in the book. A call sign wouldn't work.

Tess wrote: "Would Hitler's Niece work for book 1? It's about his relationship with his niece."
yes, from the description, sounds as if he's definitely a character in the book.

Checking that this would work for a book set in Egypt. The Mummy in Ancient Egypt: Equipping the Dead for Eternity
It's a non-fiction book, so doesn't have a setting per se, but all of the information is about Egypt and the way the people cared for their dead. Many burial places within Egypt and former rulers of Egypt are described in detail.

Would Everfair work for book 2? It's about a fictional settlement in the Congo, which seems to be an independent political entity (per the GR description, "This land, named Everfair, is set aside as a safe haven, an imaginary Utopia for native populations of the Congo..." and a review on NPR, "The Fabians partner with African-American missionaries to found the nation of Everfair...").

Sorry, I know you've been inundated with questions about this task but I just wasn't sure about a "region":Every Day in Tuscany: Seasons of an Italian Life
Thx!

Unfortunately, Tuscany isn't a place with any sort of independent government - it's more like saying "the Midwest."

Julia wrote: "Would Tempest: All-New Tales of Valdemar work for Option 2? Valdemar is a fictional kingdom."
Yes, Valdemar is a definite entity, with king/queen, governing council, etc.

I was wondering if
The Well of Lost Plots
would work for book 2 - even though that seems to be a descriptor, The Well of Lost Plots (aka WOLP) is the actual location of the novel, where Thursday lives and works for much of the book. (I'm doing my annual re-read of my favorites from the TN series - this just crossed my mind. Thanks!)

no, sorry, that isn't going to work since it's not an entity with any kind of governing structure, etc.

Well, I did realize that I still have Jane Austen's England sitting unread on my shelf, so I finally manage to scrounge one up (all my place-name-in-title books are generally estates or houses, so this was an unexpectedly hard task). Thanks!

Before posting this for any points, I wanted to check on a book for Book 1. I read
Jane Austen, the Secret Radical
wherein the author posits that we can tell Austen was not politically conservative by examining her novels. Austen is both the subject and, weirdly, made a character since the author created fanciful (imagined) scenes from Austen's life to introduce each chapter.

well, a subject of a biography (or an analysis) is also a character in the book - so it sounds as if it works on both levels.

It took away from her arguments.)

I'm assuming, since Pern is one of the examples, that planets work for option 2? For example, Cleon Moon or Arabella of Mars?

Marie wrote: "would Death Comes to Pemberley work for the second option"
as far as I can tell, Pemberley is just the name of the estate, not of a town, state, etc. In that case, it does not work.

Would An Abundance of Katherines work for option 1? There are numerous Katherines seen in flashbacks and the main character talks with 2 different Katherines on the phone. Katherine Carter is listed as a character on the book's goodreads page.Thanks.
