McKensie and Lara

James sat down feeling crushed, this was his fault...
Damon chuckled "I don't see the difference kid!" He took a bite and nodded "good modern invention...we would roast quail and honey..."

Dem smiled, and then tipped his head to the side. "Quail? That's gross...."

Damon chuckled and bumped him "don't knock it till you tried it! It was a delicacy!" He looked over at the lake "were going rafting tomorrow."

London turned her head to look at Mark, scared. "Am I dying?" She asked.
Dem shrugged. "sure. Sure. I hope I never have to try it. No offence." He said, smiling. Then he grinned. "Fun! Are there any rapids nearby?"

James looked at his dad "it's my fault...I want to donate my blood to help her."
Damon smirked "oh yeah, might be too intense for you!" He teased and put a hotdog in the fire and smoked it.

Torch raised his head from his hands and looked at him. "What?" he asked. "James... are you sure?"
Dem glared. "Haha. Sure." He said, shaking his head. "I can take it." He said, scorching a hotdog for himself and eating it thoughtfully as the stars came out.

James nodded "yeah, I'm sure. I'd be the best match...I'm not letting my niece or nephew die...but even more I can't lose my best friend."
Damon smirked "have any ghost stories to scare your old man?"

Torch sighed and nodded sadly, motioning over a nurse "My son, London's twin, wants to donate blood to help her."
The nurse looked at them both sympathetically. "I'm afraid that wont help anything. Taking that much blood could have serious effects on you." She told James.
Dem grinned. "I can try..." He said, and started to weave a tail of dark nights and wailing spirits.

Damon listened, the way his son told stories was amazing. So he reacted the way he was supposed to.

The nurse nodded. "Come with me then." She said, motioning him into another room. She inserted the needle and started to draw the required amount of blood.
Dem finished the tale and grinned. "You ok pop? Kinda looking a little pale there..."

Mark sighed and kissed her cheek "just stay with me..." He said softly actually scared of it.
Damon laughed "just to make your day son, you just described our second cousins." he teased

London nodded, trying so very hard to. But her body was getting weaker. "I'm so tired Mark." She said softly.
Dem paled a little then. "What?" He asked, shocked. "So they exist?"

Mark shook his head and looked at the doctor "what's happening?..."
Damon chuckled and shrugged "kid your a nightmare causing demon."

The doctor shook his head, "I'm sorry. She's lost too much blood..." he said softly.
And that was all London heard as she passed out, just as the nurse ran in with the blood bags.
Dem laughed softly and shrugged. "Even monsters forget they're scary sometimes..."

Mark felt his heart sink and he hit his head against the headboard until he saw the nurse with all the blood "will this save her?"
Damon nodded "very deep Dem...how's Lukas? Tamer now with Anne?"

The nurse nodded, hooking two transfusions up to London at once. "It should." She said hopefully.
A few minutes and all the bloodbags later, London's eyes fluttered open. "Mark?" She murmured.
Dem laughed. "Hardly. More like.... distracted." He said honestly, smiling a little. "They are quite the pair." Two loons wailed across the lake and Dem paused, listening to them.

Mark sighed in relief and kissed her "hi honey...welcome back..." He looked at the doctors "is the baby?..."
Damon smiled loving that haunting sound "I had a collection of feathers...I never could find a loon..."

The doctors smiled. "The baby is just fine. Made a miraculous recovery there..."
London smiled weakly at him, her eyes peeling open. "Is everything ok now?"
Dem smiled. "Cool! Id love to see a real live loon sometime. Thing we'll spot one tomorrow?"

Mark swallowed tears in his eyes "don't scare me like that ever again..." He looked at the doctor "so are we just going to keep an eye on the baby or what?..."
Damon smiled "we'll keep an eye out alright?"

London smiled a little, holding his hand. "Im sorry. I wont. I promise." She said seriously.
The doctor nodded. "Pretty much. But no stressful situations from here on out. No amusement parks, scary movies.... you get the drill."
Dem nodded, yawning and stretching. "I suppose we should get some shut eye... big day tomorrow." He said, standing.
((G2g. Bye!))

Mark nodded and pecked her cheek "bed rest till the delivery, not taking any chances!" He just felt so grateful that his girl and baby was alright. He pulled out a ring and put it on her finger "marry me..."
Damon nodded and stood dousing the fire "you can sleep in kid, I'll have breakfast ready for you."

London grumbled. "Bed rest for three months!?" She exclaimed. When he pulled out a ring, London gasped and her eyes flooded with tears. "Of course!" She squeaked, hugging him tight. She pulled back and looked at the ring. "Oh its so gorgeous! I have to show everyone! Where are Mom and Dad and James?" She asked Mark.
Dem smiled, walking tiredly to the tent. "Thanks a bunch." He said, unzipping the tent flap and bending to get inside. He crawled into his sleeping bag abd almost immediately fell asleep.

Mark shrugged lightly and kissed her again "in the waiting room I'm pretty sure...I don't know I've been with you." He nuzzled her and sighed feeling emotionally exhausted.
Damon cleaned up the camp and hoisted the food so it couldn't be disturbed. He made sure the truck was locked after quietly bringing in the rest of the stuff and falling asleep in his sleeping bag.

London nodded, patting the spot beside her on the bed. "Come rest with me." She urged. She called a nurse and asked if he could fetch her parents and family. She wanted to see them.
Dem slept well throughout the night, and when he woke again, the sun was shining brightly through the tent windows.

Mae shook her head "you go in Torch..." She'd never forgive herself if she left and he had died alone. She squeezed her son's hand lightly not feeling like saying goodbye yet.
Damon was cooking eggs and bacon on the fire, he was squeezing fresh orange juice as Dem walked out of the tent "morning kiddo!"

London frowned, immediately seeing that her father had been crying. "Wheres mom and James?" She asked softly.
Torch clenched his teeth but just shook his head.
London paled two shades. "Where is James!?" She cried.
Torch looked to her. "He... he donated the blood that saved you London...."
London froze, coughing on unspoken words. Her heart shattered. "WHAT!?" she screamed, scrambling to try and get out of bed and go see him. She was on the verge of starting to bleed all over again.
Dem grinned, trying to comb his hair with his fingers. "Morning! That smells amazing..." he said, coming over eagerly to see the food.

Damon chuckled at his attempt to fix his hair "we are in the wilderness boy, no one to impress here." He teased and handed him a tinfoil pan for a plate "I hope it tastes alright, it's your mom that is the cook not me."

Dem smiled sheepishly and left his hair alone, taking the foil plate. "It smells good enough..." he commented, taking a bite. "And it tastes amazing!"

Damon chuckled "I'm glad! Don't tell your mom or I'll be on breakfast duty for the rest of my life!" He teased and handed him a cup of orange juice "how'd you sleep?"

Dem ate thw food eagerly, smiling. He drank the juice and sighed. "One of the best in a while. For once im not stressed about anything..." he said honestly.

Damon smiled "that's great! Stress is so damaging to your body, sadly you get that from me. I was always stressed, taking everything personally and it never ended up well..."

London stirred, groaning. Her head was pounding from the effects of the sedative. At first the excitement of the engagement hit her, and then she remembered why Torch had come in. The light left her then, her eyes dulling. She wasn't complete without James, being twins, their souls were too closely linked for them to be separated. London just stared at the ceiling, sort of limp.
Dem chuckled, shaking his head. "Wonderful thing to inherit, thanks Dad." he joked, cleaning off his plate. "Ready to head out?"

Mark swallowed and kissed her cheek "your dad said there is still a chance London...don't give up please..." He paused getting an idea. He unlocked the breaks of her bed "you can't get up but that doesn't mean I can't push you there myself."
Damon shook his head "not till you get in your swim trunks buddy, I have to inflate the raft."

The text read 'James. I'm sorry. Can we talk?'
London didn't move, she didn't respond either. Her eyes slowly closed again. Her heart was hurting too much. And to escape the pain, she was trying to retreat into herself. She didn't want to see James's lifeless body.
Dem nodded, cleaning up their plates and stashing them away again. "Sure thing." He agreed, going back into the tent to get changed.

Mark knocked on the side of the door with London's bed. He saw the happy looks on their faces and was confused "what's going on?"
Mae sighed and texted back since the poor girl would be worried sick 'this is his mother, he's in a special hospital and can't respond right now.'
Damon got out the raft and blew air into it, his strong lungs gave out big puffs so he didn't have to hand pump it.

'What!?' Emily texted back immediately, her heart pounding in fear. What if she drove him away, and now it was too late? 'Is he ok?'
Dem finished changing and walked out again, having gotten two towels for them. " The raft looks great. Where are the paddles?"

Mae sighed and looked at Torch "can we get him to a regular hospital, girlfriend is freaking out."
James heard Mark and slowly opened his eyes and put his hand on hers carefully, both of their hands taped with IVs.
Damon motioned to the back of the truck while he was still blowing it up. He capped it and took a deep breath "whew alright, let's get out of here!"

Torch laughed and nodded. "Sure thing." he agreed, finding transport for all of them and their beds up to a human hospital in their neighborhood.
Dem grabbed the paddles from the back of the truck. "Ok. Let's head out!" He agreed, carrying the paddles and helping lift the raft.

James just rested still not up to pat but not in the danger zone. He held London as she cried on him, he hated that he made his sister cry...again.
Damon tied it down and hopped into the truck driving to the mouth of the river. "Unload everything but don't let the raft float away, I have to get the truck to the ending point so we don't have to walk back."

London looked over miserably, not really wanting to see Emily right now. She looked back and just hugged James. "Don't you ever die on me again? ok?" She said seriously to him.
Dem nodded and unloaded the raft and paddles. He carried them to the river side, but made sure the raft was enough on shore that it wouldn't drift away.

Mark helped her into the wheelchair and chuckled at her looks of disdain "put your claws back in, you can spend all after visiting hours with him."
Damon flew back and grinned putting in the life jacket and throwing one to Dem "you know how to row right?"

London folded her arms, looking glum. "he died on me! I'm his sister!" She protested, but she knew he was right. "Thanks for sticking by me..." She said softly, looking up at him.
Dem slipped on the jacket and smiled. "I think I do... I am a quick learner." He said, hopping in the raft.

Mark helped her carefully into the bed and checked to see if there was any bleeding "still doing fine..." He kissed her lovingly "this is the only place I want to be..." He rubbed her stomach "tough little tyke."
Damon showed him how to hold it and push it through the water "I'll let you know when you need to row faster so we can get out of the rapids."

London smiled, hugging him. "Yup. We've got a strong child. I don't think they got that from me." She sighed.
Dem watched, committing the patterns for stroking to memory. Then he worked on it, paddling a bit to try it out, before putting a little more muscle into it. "Alright. Just let me know." He agreed, watching the stretch of river in front of them.

Mark shook his head and kissed her "not so...you are the strongest beautiful person I know." He kissed her stomach "I hope it's a girl!"
Damon grinned "you are doing great, amazingly strong strokes. We won't have any trouble."

London sighed. "I wish I thought the same." She mumbled. She pushed that thought away though and smiled. "A girl would be nice." She agreed. "But boys are sweet too." She kissed his cheek.
Dem smiled, proud of himself. "Thanks. When do the rapids come?" He asked, peering into the distance.

Mark nodded and kissed her lips "rest...the doctors aren't going to be poking at you for awhile take advantage of that and sleep..." He pulled out a fluffy teddy he had bought and smiled "teddy will protect you."
Damon chuckled "it's a calm trip for awhile, we can look for loons."

London smiled, tucking the bear under her arm. "Thank you." She said, snuggling against her as she took his advice and allowed her eyes to slowly close. She really didn't want the doctors to poke her again, but she also wanted to live...
Dem nodded, grinning as he scanned the lake. "Let me know if you see one!"
Dem laughed. "Sort of..." He picked up chocolate, a marshmallow, and two gram crackers. He roasted the marshmallow and them made a sandwich of them all. "This, is a smore." He said, smiling.
