And have you ever been to a boxing match?

Music is a huge MUST for me when I’m writing. Not only does it help to block out the noise that comes with living in an all male house, but it also gets me in the zone for whatever I’m writing. So for a fight scene, I’d listen to training music like the Rocky Soundtrack but also songs like ‘Fighter’ by Gym Class Heroes and ‘Stronger’ by Kanye West. For the romantic scenes I would listen to songs like ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri and for the emotional scenes I love ‘Stand by You’ by Rachel Platten. When I write about Tommy, it’s all power ballards like ‘Raining Men’ or ‘I’ll Survive.” For Kieran’s book especially, I’ve been listening to ‘Somebody to You’ by the Vamps and ‘Shape of You’ by Ed Sheeran. So music, definitely plays a huge part in shaping my novels.

Definitely! Once the Hurricane series is done, I’d like to work on an idea I’ve been kicking around for a military Commando series. I’d love to commit to that being next, but I find that I have random ideas at different times, so what I work on next depends entirely on which character’s voice is calling me the most then. I do love my hot, protective alpha males though, so you can be sure that I’ll be writing about these sorts of characters.

I LOVE movies, and especially rom coms. ‘Leap Year’ is definitely one of my favourites, but up there with my favourites would also be ‘Ten Things I Hate About You,’ ‘Love Actually,’ ‘Notting Hill,’ ‘You’ve Got Mail’, ‘The Wedding Singer’, ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ and ‘While You Were Sleeping.’ Nothing beats a cup of tea, a bar of Galaxy chocolate and a good rom com <3.

Because I’m usually writing ‘on the go’ I don’t have a big list of must haves. I always carry a notebook and black fine liner in my bag so that I can write as I wait for the kids to come out of school, or the waiting room at the dentist, literally anytime that I have a spare five minutes! When I do get the chance to sit down at home and write, I almost start with a hot cup of tea in my favourite mug, my music and Sony noise cancelling headphones and my notebook. I usually keep a copy of The Hurricane and The Aftermath handy as well!

As I mentioned above, music is a huge MUST for me when I’m writing. Each play list depends on what I’m writing at the time, but each character has songs that remind me of them. For example, songs like ‘Fighter’ by Gym Class Heroes and ‘Radioactive’ by the Imagine Dragons, reminds me of Con, but power ballads like ‘It’s Rainy Men’ and ‘I Will Survive’ and Michael Jackson, reminds me of Tommy. Kieran is quite playful and loving, so I tend to listen to The Vamps, Ed Sheeran and Rachel Platten when writing about him. The only one I don’t have a playlist for is Liam, but I’m open to suggestions :-)

This is without doubt, the most difficult question I’ve ever been asked! Of course I’ve run through what it would be like to be Pigeon from Beautiful Disaster, Brook from Real and Katniss Eberdeen from Hunger Games, but in the end I would chose Sasha Duncan from Slave to Sensation, the first in the Psy-Changling Series by Nalini Singh. For me, so has created such a vibrant and complex world in her books, that cross over into so many different genres for me that I would love to experience the world that she has created, even if only for a day!

I must admit that I don’t have a huge amount of free time when I’m not writing, and when I do I like to spend as much time as possible with my boys. I feel like they’re getting bigger every day, and one day I’ll wake up and they’ll be all grown up! I do enjoy baking, and the kitchen is the heart of our home so the boys will often be sat at the kitchen table doing their homework or playing as I bake. I also love reading (no surprise there!) and watching movies. I used to spend a lot of time painting and drawing, and I’d love to go back to that one day.

At the moment I'm just editing Kieran's story, but when I'm done I'll be moving onto Tommy's book. After that, it depends on which character's voice shouts loudest as to what I write next :-)

I’m totally eclectic when it comes to music. I’m not faithfully to any one band. I have my favourites that I mentioned about, but I also add current stuff to my playlist as it is released. So recently I’ve added some Charlie Puth, Pharell Williams, Justin Timberlake, Imagine Dragons, and Guns and Roses. I hear something on the radio that reminds of a conversation the Driscoll’s boys were having, or one of my characters, and I add it to my play list. Routinely I’ll also post an idea for a scene, or an inspirational picture for a character in my reader group, and I’ll ask readers to comment with their playlist suggestions. I’ve found links to loads of great music that way.

And have you ever been to a boxing match?"
I’m not as eclectic with my reading as I used to be, all of the books I read now definitely have to have a romantic thread running through them. I’m also careful to make sure that I only read books with ‘happy for now’ or ‘happy-ever-afters.’ I realise that I miss out on so many great books this way, but I become quite emotionally invested in books, and find myself depressed for days when I read books with sad endings. I was down in the dumps for a week after ‘Me Before You’, despite the fact that it was an amazing read, so I stick now to books that I know will leave me feeling happy.
Some of my favourite books would be ‘Real’ ‘Rogue’ and ‘Legend’ by Katie Evans, ‘Beautiful Disaster’ by Jamie McGuire, ‘The Boy Who Sneaks Through My Bedroom Window’ by Kirsty Mosely, ‘Shade’s Fall’ by Jamie Begley, The Psy-Changling Series by Nalini Singh and the Hade’s Hangmen Series by Tillie Cole.
As for the boxing, my brother and father sparked my interest in the sport. My brother trained as a kid in a professional boxing gym, and later when I met my now husband, he was kickboxing and training at a local boxing gym. It was through this that I got to see behind the scenes at boxing matches. It was so different from how I thought it would be from watching it on television as a kid, but it’s how I was able to write in so much detail about the fights and Driscoll’s Gym.

I have a lot of Irish friends, so most of the names came from people I’d met over the years whose names I liked. For the others, say for extended family members, I looked up lists of the most popular names in the year in which that character would have been born, and chose from there. I also looked for names that seemed to fit the personality of the character.

I have so many favourites it really is difficult to narrow them down into a list. If I had to though, I would definitely say Kalini Singh, Kirstey Moseley, Katie Evans, Jamie Begley, Vi Kieerland, Bijou Hunter and Tillie Cole would be on this list. There are so many amazing authors out there though, and we are incredibly lucky to live in a time where ebooks make it easier to discover new authors every day!

Quite simply- a life long love affair with romance. Since I was a child, I have devoured books. As a teenager, I devoured romance and I've been addicted ever since. My urge to pick up a pen only came one evening (before I owned a kindle) where I'd run out of books to read and thought I'd try my hand at writing a book with characters I'd love to read about. My friend read a little of what I wrote and urged me to keep writing so that she could finish reading the book, and that's how it all started.

I'm a MASSIVE re-reader. I can only write when I feel inspired, and nothing inspires me more than reading books that are really close to my heart. It might be because they invoke memories of how I felt when I first read them, or because I've re-read them so much that the characters now feel real, but regardless, they still inspire me. I also own most of the ones that I re-read in paperback as well as owning the e copy. These would definitely be 'Real' by Katy Evans, ‘The Boy Who Sneaks Through My Bedroom Window’ by Kirsty Mosely, ‘Shade’s Fall’ by Jamie Begley, The Psy-Changling Series by Nalini Singh and the Hade’s Hangmen Series by Tillie Cole. I love these books so much!!!! <3

I think all of my characters have quite different personalities, but I think that the core of what they are is men who love very deeply, who are protective of their loved ones and who can take care of themselves if they need to. I probably subconsciously write about these sorts of characters, because it's a trait that I find attractive. I'd like to think that the professions of the guys I write about will become more diverse as I write more books, though I think that these key qualities will always be at the heart of who they are.
As for the hot guys on the covers, I spend a lot of time scrolling through stock images to find one that really fits my vision for the cover, and I have an AMAZING designer who then works her magic until that image matches what I have in my head.

Even when I wrote Hurricane, I never really thought that more than a few hundred people would read it. Even when things went as crazy as it did, I genuinely only saw writing as a hobby. Then, one day, I received an amazing email from a lady undergoing cancer treatment. The treatment center was four hours away from where she lived, so she could only see her family on weekends, and she was using Hurricane to make it through her chemo sessions. Since then, I have received a number of messages and have met readers in person who have told me unbelievable stories of how Hurricane changed their lives or their journeys. But it was that first message that changed the way I saw myself and my writing. To know that my writing helped someone, even in such a small way, moved me. It was then that I knew that I wanted to be an author.

Without doubt, it's the readers. There was a short time after I wrote Aftermath where I felt as though I'd lost my literary voice. But it was the support, encouragement and patience of readers that inspired me to write Kieran's book. I am so thankful for the incredible amount of support I've had, but knowing that there are people who enjoy my work and look forward to what I will write next, definitely motivates me to keep going.

There will definitely be at least one more book in this series, as I am planning of writing Tommy's book. I am considering writing a novella which gives you Danny's back story, but there will be at least one more. After that I'd like to work on a military series I've been thinking about, but in all honesty, as many authors will agree, characters have a funny way of making their voices heard, whether you were ready to write about them or not.

Almost all of them have personality traits that can be found in people that I know. Sometimes, places that I've been or shared experiences will also be mirrored in the book, mostly they are sexy figments of my imagination ;-)

This question is sooooo hard! Brilliant question though. In all honesty though, I couldn't chose a single book. If I was to give an answer, I'd have chosen one of my favourites. But then I would have been deprived of the pleasure of experiencing it for the first time as a reader, and reading will always be my greatest passion, even before writing.

No so much the models, but the images. I always have a very specific idea of what I have in mind for my covers, so I troll through stock images until I find one that fits. I then have a fantastic cover design who works her magic to make it fit the vision that I have. I tend not to worry to much about the face of the model, because where possible I cut or blur it, as I like people to imagine their own hero when they read my books.

More often that not, the names will just come to me as I imagine the character. When I'm looking for Irish names for extended family, I'll look at the year the character was born in and research the list of most popular names in that year, then pick a name that best suits the character. Quite often, I will also post in my facebook reader group 'Prescott's Hurricane's' and will ask whether any of my readers have suggestions for names. I'd describe the character I'm writing about and ask for suggestions and they come up with some great ideas for me to pick from! :-)
