Nicole D. | 1573 comments YOU GUYS!

I'm not a thriller person, but I do enjoy them now and again and when everybody is raving about a thriller, I tend to enjoy it.

This was a flawed bunch of hooey.

I had figured the basic premise of the book as soon as the first major event took place. This guy was a super brilliant scientist and it took him EONS to figure it out even though it was, in fact, his own line of scientific inquiry. Then there was the "Magician's Nephew" Narnia aspect which I found dumb, and a big bunch of filler. And of course, the trite "It's A Wonderful Life" message.

Blech.

Didn't absolutely hate it, and parts I enjoyed, but generally --- baffled.

Nicole R (drnicoler) | 8088 comments This was totally on my radar but now I am not sure. Sigh, guess i will just have to read a Nora Roberts book while I decide.

You are definitely out! LOL.

Nicole, you may like it.

Jennifer Pope (jenjunum) | 902 comments This is how I felt about it too. There was short time when I thought I was going to like it but then it just got dumb for me too. It *could* have been so good.

Anita Pomerantz | 9299 comments Ha ha, appreciate the confirmation. i had just put a hold on it at the library this morning . . .but nooooooo!

Jenni Elyse (jenni_elyse) I'm sorry you didn't like it. I thought it was suspenseful and a lot of fun, but to each their own. :)

Susie I liked it way more than you! I don't mind a mindless thriller to fill the gaps once in a while.

Exactly how I felt! I loved it! Made my top 10 last year.

message 11: by Jen (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jen | 1545 comments I gave it 3.5 stars. I found it entertaining but great literature it is not. I think Nicole will like it. I don't think Anita will love it but I don't think she'd dislike it as much as Nicole D

Nicole R (drnicoler) | 8088 comments Okay, Linda has me putting this back on my TBR. Just awaiting the right tag for it to fit...

Amy | 12953 comments You know I'm not sci if or thriller type. Not my usual genre. But I enjoyed it. Fast paced and engaging enough if you don't take it too seriously. I gave it four stars. Perfect mid-brow book. I've been thinking of classifying myself as the mid-brow reader. Not the Anna Karenenna type, but once in a great while. Not the Fan Girl type, but can dip into a Divergent once in a while. I'm sort of generally in the bestsellers and up crowd. So it worked for me as something different.

Thanks, Jen - - this is helpful in the sense that if I'm going to give it three stars and know that out of the gate, it's a no. I am looking for the five star gems unless it is a classic where I feel like it is more of an educational thing.

Anita Pomerantz | 9299 comments Argh. I just realized I actually purchased this one at some point. It must have been on sale. Dang.

Thanks for the warning, since I'm not much of a thriller reader, but also read them from time to time.
