They finially did it! As the number one requested update, rereading has arrived. You may now 'tag' your books as read for multiple years.

The following info was taken from GoodRead Feedback Group. (The adorable above meme was posted by Erin ☕ *Proud Book Hoarder* in that thread.)

If you have “bug” issues, post in that thread. (This is all new to me, too!)

How does it work?

If you’ve already marked a book as Read on Goodreads, simply move the book to your Currently Reading shelf. Once you’re finished (again!), move the book back to Read. A new “date read” will automatically be added to the book, and it will be included in your Reading Challenge if you’ve set a goal this year. Any rereads will be also included in Your Year in Books at the end of 2017.

If you’d like to add more than one “date read,” you can do so in the new My Activity section on the book page for any book you’ve shelved.

You can add as many dates as you’d like, or remove the dates entirely. While the additional dates read will only appear on the desktop site, we’ll add new dates read if you move a book using the iOS and Android apps, mobile web, or the “About a Book” feature on Kindle. We’re working on the ability to view your rereads on mobile.

I was using the “Number of times read” field to track rereads. Is my data still there?

If you previously used the “Number of times read” field, all your rereads are still there. If you added a number, it automatically shows in the new feature. If you used text, we’ve appended it to the private notes section of your review. You can click on “edit review” to change any dates or add more information.

What about if I want to add the previous dates I’ve reread a book?

When you edit your review on desktop, you’ll see a brand-new “Add read date” button. If you want a book to count toward your Reading Challenge and/or Your Year in Books, make sure you add a finish date in 2017.

I was shelving different editions of a book to count my rereads. What happens now?

Rereading counts include multiple editions! You can see and find a link to other editions included in your reading count when you edit your review.

What about writing different reviews for each time I reread a book?

There will only be one text review and one rating associated with each edition that you shelve. However, you’re more than welcome to add additional thoughts in the review text space or use creative formatting to show that you’re writing another part of your review at a later date.

You can read more at our blog post. Please go forth, reread an old favorite, and let us know your thoughts here — we’d love to hear them.

Happy rereading!

Amyiw | 254 comments There is a problem with the programming that is very irritating though. If you put a book's date finished set without removing it from your currently reading, you will create a 2nd time read. The only way to get rid of it is to add it to your read shelf and then go in and remove the second date read. It will be the same as the start of your first date read without a finished date but it counts it as a "read" time even though you never put a second finished date. So... after removing the 2nd time read, the counter now shows only one time read but the start date is now after the finished date, argh!

OK, this is a lot better than having to add a second edition or just noting it in the review but.... say you start a reread and then decide to remove it and not finish, that start is permanently a "reread" by Goodreads (unless you remove it) and shows on your read count. I didn't understand what was happening at first but... I don't count rereads that don't have a finish date and don't understand why they programmed it this way. I'm considering making a permanent exclusive shelf for rereads, instead of adding to my currently reading shelf. I will remember to add my books to read shelf before setting the date read. I used to leave them in my currently reading so that I would remember to review them.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments I like the idea of an "exclusive" shelf for rereads, Amyiw.

Amyiw | 254 comments Or maybe a "needs review" shelf. I want my rereads to count in the read book too though so a exclusive shelf wouldn't work. My rereads are almost always favorites.

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments you could do a sticky shelf that would come up first on the non-exclusive shelves.

Amyiw | 254 comments Yes sticky would work, I have a few too many of them now. I gotta get rid of some old shelves.
