In the year of 2050, a virus began spreading throughout the country of the US. At first, no one noticed it, because there were only small amounts of victims. Then, the final wave hit.

Every single day, hundreds of thousands of people throughout the country were sent to the hospital, choking on their own blood as their bodies betrayed them. This virus was known as LIVE. Soon other countries got wind of what was happening, and the US became a quarantine zone.

LIVE brought down the population by at least three-fourths.

The thing is, some people survived. They were called the Immune, and they had somehow not only survived the virus, but also gained abilities.

These abilities were called Affinities.

The government classified the Affinities into a list of the most rare from top to bottom.

However, scientists soon discovered that if they could test an Immune, they might develop a cure for LIVE. The government wanted to use the Immune as an army. They could fight much better than any normal man.

The Immune went into hiding. As the population was so small, women eventually got rounded up and sent to Facilities, where they were used for breeding. All of them were civilians only.

Rebel groups began to pop up. They defied the government, sabotaging projects and breaking and freeing those in Facilities. Now the question is-

Who will win the battle for power?

It is December 27, 2050. The US has been divided into three territories:

The Wildlands: This covers most of the US, where the once largely populated cities were. Here, LIVE runs wild, and mutants are the only living creatures that prowl around. If you are exiled here, that is the most basic, horrible death sentence imaginable. Most likely you'll die a) a slow death of LIVE, b) ripped apart and eaten by a mutant, c) maybe, though this is unknown by those inside the Border separating the rest of civilization from the Wildlands, picked up by one of the groups of survivors, or d) killed by the environment. The sun is scorching, there is no water and the water there is poisoned, you can't trust anything.
The Slums: This is where the poor who couldn't afford full protection by the government lives. Most Facilities use civilians from The Slums. There are some LIVE outbreaks, and mutant attacks once in awhile. The streets are patrolled by Enforcers, the people sent to do the government's dirty work, and they kill rebels or anyone suspected of being a rebel, or send them to the government.
The Haven: This is the safe part. This is where the rich live sheltered lives. The official government building, the City Hall, is located in the middle, and it is separated from the Slums and the Wildlands by one more thing-a barrier constructed by scientists, government Immune and government workers. Here, life is almost normal, with high-tech of course. It is the 2050s, what do you expect?
