Does anyone else think what Sam did to Kent was kind of messed up?

I mean, she new she was going to die, but she still pursued Kent romantically on her last night. I'm sure it made his grief infinitely worse. Not only did his childhood best friend and longtime crush die, but she finally reciprocated and kissed him right before!

It felt so selfish to me. She would have been doing him a favour to just leave him alone.

Actually, Samantha didn't thought it out to kill herself for Juliet. She loved Kent, but she didn't thought of killing herself. Right in the moment she did it, and happily went to peace after death. She kissed Kent for goodbye - never seemed selfish to me.

While I am sure Kent was very heartbroken over Sam's passing, it seemed to me that she thought she was going to survive. For them, it was their kiss goodbye. At least he was able to kiss her before she was gone.

It may have been but I loved it! Kent was by far my favorite character. I was so sad after I read the ending because of how Kent would have to deal.

I totally agree, I think it was selfish. It kind of annoyed me, because in the end she's supposed to be all 'new' and 'different' and the act of sacrificing herself for Juliet was meant to show how much she's changed... but if she was so selfless all of a sudden, why didn't she think about Kent? I can understand why she would want to be with him, but she literally didn't even spare a single thought for how he would feel after she died.
