This is particularly hard to find because it's a short story. I think it was part of a collection I read in 2014, possibly by Raymond Carver.

It's about a man sitting in the library of his house, reading a story about a couple breaking and entering into a house and murdering a man sitting in a chair. Slowly, the events of the story begin to transpire around him and he's murdered by the couple.

I'd really appreciate it if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Could it Philomel Cottage by Agatha Christie? I listened to it in a collection called The Witness for the Prosecution and Other Stories.
