(view spoiler)[ This book was a pain for me to finished. For god's sake this book after the chapter 20 is so freaking boring most of the time I would fall asleep if it haven't because I needed to finish this book today.

It made me laugh in the chapter 22 and 23 because literally Beauty is like "oh yeah, I'll stay here until I am 80 and then I'll rescue the Beast, I'm sure he can wait until them". Too much drama for nothing, too much paragraphs to realize she is in love with him, too many pages about the shit plot of marriage Solmin, too many pages about this boring retelling.

I was really looking forward for something different but this reminds me so much of Cruel Beauty that I hated, it has so many differences but still... I hated this book so much. I haven't found yet another retelling I like besides Lunar Chronicles. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 1-4

So far this book is really good. In my opinion but I love retellings.

Yeva (the Beauty) lived with her two sister Lena and Asenka and he father who loved to hunt and used to take Yeva with him until he thought she needed to become a lady. Yeva was never content to lead the life he thought she should be living. She was a natural hunter and longed to hunt with her father. Her father was a wealthy mercantile who ended up losing all his fortune when his caravan was robbed. He had all of his wealth tied up in that caravan. He and the girls sold off all their belongings and moved to the hunting cabin in the woods to try to start a new life. He left to hunt The Beast who he knew was out there somewhere and lost his life trying to find him. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 5-10

Yeva set out to find her father and found he was dead. The Beast set a trap for her and found her. She was locked in a cell and given food and water by this beast who she thought was her friend. She told him stories and was never allowed to see his face and was always blindfolded. She decided to look and discovered the Beast was the one who killed her father...or was he. In truth The Beast never killed him but lead her to believe it and also told her if she tried to leave him he would kill her family. Her dog Doe-Eyes finds her in chapter 10 and she is allowed to keep her. The Beast is showing signs of caring and gentleness (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 11-20

The Beast continues to train Yeva in the magical forest and he comes to care for her. He lets her run the run down castle she discovered she was living in. On one of their training days, the day Doe-Eyes came the Beast had no idea he was her dog and threw him into a tree and broke his leg. Yeva carried him the whole way home and therefore was not blindfolded. She had moments where she was learning to care for the Beast but she was really tricking him so she could avenge her fathers death which he did not do. The Beast let Yeva go home to her family. So much had changed. Lena was married and pregnant and they were living in their father's old house. Yeva they thought was dead. She had been gone for 1 year. (hide spoiler)]

Yeva left her home to find the Beast and break the curse. She knew she had to find the firebird to release the Beast of his curse. She found him and shot an arrow...I won't spoil what happens but like ALL good fairy tales this one ended with the Beast turning into Prince Eoven and they lived a life they were meant to live....one that they will be together in forever. Chapter 5:(view spoiler)[Okay, so I'm getting a slight creepy vibe from the Beast, at least from his short POV snips. I don't know why...but that is what I'm getting when I read them. Now I like how this is sort of like the Beauty and the Beast story because Belle does go looking for her father after their horse Philippe comes home without her father, Maurice. Whereas in Hunted Yeva goes looking for her father when he doesn't come home from a "hunting" trip and one of their dogs does. Yes "hunting" because he was very vague to Yeva. He said something is coming. I guess he is the only one that knows what truly belongs in these woods (near their fathers cabin) but I find it highly strange that none of his daughters know. You'd think he would tell them so that they knew how to protect themselves. But nope...that doesn't happen.

I'm also starting to think that Solmir is actually the Gaston of this book. Don't know how I feel about him yet (at least 100%--maybe) because it seems that her older sister likes him but he doesn't like her because of her ankle and because Yeva is basically beauty. UGH give me a break people. AN ANKLE PROBLEM IS NOT GONNA KILL YA. Give a girl a chance. I like all of her sisters. They deserve love. Yeva doesn't like the guy, so maybe he should give her older sister a chance.

I also like how the Beast is taking care of her. Because in the movie she takes care of him. UGH I need to stop comparing this book to the Disney movie. I apologize. I love Disney.

I literally kept comparing this book to both the Disney movie and ACOTAR in my head. :P

Chapter 1-4 (view spoiler)[First of all, sorry in advance for the mistakes in english even more so sine you're an English major ^^

Up to chapter 4 I like the story. Even if it's a retelling I like that Yeva is so different from the typical Beauty. She's more of a badass heroine (she's a HUNTRESS !!) than a bookworm and I like that about her.

I also like that she has sisters in this version. I was sad when Solmir came for Yeva and Asenka did her best to support her sister and not show she was hurt.

It's a bit weird since I kind of know what's gonna happened but at the same time I don't. :s

I'm also perplexed because of Solmir. He's so not how I thought he would be : as arrogant and annoying as Gaston but in fact he's kind of sweet and really attracted to Yeva. I think she could be happy with him. But since we didn't see her interact with the Beast until now I reserve my judgment (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 6-7 (view spoiler)[I think Yeva is a little slow for not already understanding that her "friend" and her "captor" are the same person. I also think she's developing a little bit of a Stockholm syndrome which I find funny. She really doesn't have a clue o_o'

I'm so disappointed with her. Her reaction was to be expected but i still hoped she would not react like that. I'm hurt for the Beast even if he'd like to pretend he doesn't care.

I wonder what he really needs and why he was so interested by Ivan story (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 8-11 (view spoiler)[ I like the dynamic between Yeva and the Beast. I'm still angry with her for her reaction after discovering who/what he is. I like the idea of him training her but what I really wonder is what will she have to hunt ?

And Doe-eyes is here !!! She came for her mistress !! She's so cute trying to protect her even from a beast so much bigger than her. I want a Doe-Eyes too.

Also I'm not sure her father is dead or, if he is, that the Beast killed him. He never denied killing Yeva's father but he never admitted it either. I don't know why I have this insane idea that Solmir might have found him and sent him to an asylum somewhere --'

After chapter 12, I was eating and I had those thoughts

(view spoiler)[1) I really like the Beast. Even if he doesn't know it now and probably won't admit it, he really wants Yeva to like him. He hasn't had a connection with someone for so long... I found his reaction when interacting with Yeva so cute and that compliment at the end, calling her Beauty... It made me smile. It was really touching.

2) I'm kind of hoping, that when Yeva will go back home she will discover that Solmir fell in love with her sister and decided to marry her. Like that everyone will be happy and no one will have a broken heart :D

And 3) I have the song from the movie stuck in my head --'

I really like it or more exactly, I'm liking it more and more. It was a little slow at the beginning but it's getting pretty interesting. I don't think I will finish it tonight but definitely tomorrow.

Chapter 13-16 (view spoiler)[ The Beast is like the dark, moody character in movies : tough on the outside and a big softie on the inside. He needs Yeva's help but I'm more and more convinced that he didn't kill her father. He uses this excuse so she will help believing otherwise she wouldn't. That makes me sad. He's so alone, so lonely and still he wishes she will see him.

That fox was such an a** !! I know he's a fox so it's part of his nature but was it really necessary to lead Yeva to possible death. He did strengthen my belief that the Firebird plays a role in the Beast's curse. I don't know why but I feel like the Beast is the Ivan from the story and that he did suffer consequences : the curse. I don't want to say too much in case you have other ideas. I'll wait until I'm sure

The Beast makes me so sad. I really feel for him. When she acted as if she cared for him, smiled at him and he was surprised and happy and then she tried do kill him... I understand where she's coming from, wanting to avenge her father and everything but I'm still team Beast and I hurt for him more (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 21-23 (view spoiler)[Arrghhhh !! I'm so angry with Yeva. It took her so long to finally go after the Beast. I'm so mad right now. I hope it's not too late.

And the emotional blackmail of her sister makes me mad too. Enough with people sacrificing their happiness. Solmir and Asenka would both have been miserable with the wedding but Asenka was so stubborn. At the same time I'm happy to see I was right : Solmir did fall in love with Asenka. I love it when I'm right. At least here he won't try to kill the Beast :D (hide spoiler)]

Finished (view spoiler)[ Wow what an ending, I was kind of scared with where the author was going with everything. But like I thought the Beast was Ivan from the story and had "fused" with the wolf. I hadn't guess the part about the three tests but it was a nice touch. I really liked it. And when she explained the curse with her story I knew she was the Firebird since she came back for him. I was moved by this part. (hide spoiler)]
General review (view spoiler)[I liked the story. It was so different from the original Beauty and the Beast. I know I said I knew what was going to happen but I can honestly say I was surprised by many twists of this version.

I liked the background of Russian mythology and that it was Beauty doing the saving, I mean more than in the original story. She wasn't just the poor damsel in distress trying but failing to save the Beast until the final kiss. No she was really active and needed I had a great time reading this book.

I also like the lesson that everything is not just one thing in this world and that wanting too much can be dangerous. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 3-4: (view spoiler)[ I really like that Yeva is a hunter as well! It helps bring a little originality to the story. Solmir is now what I expected either. He is sweet, and I think that he might actually fall for Asenka while caring for her and Lena and Albe, while Yeva looks for her father.

The story is going pretty good so far, so I’m excited to see how Beauty and The Beast will meet (hide spoiler)]
