It is known that the filter on a title word doesn't return all instances of that word.

The filter on first letter=t times out for me too.

A workaround is to add an exclusive word/lettercombination (I've often used "editiontocombine") to the single edition and to one of the combined editions. Filtering on that word will work. You'll have to remove it from the titles once they are combined.
