People always expect it to be the man. I don't suppose it will matter in the end. Jo and Cork both know and that 's the main thing.
It's not fair but I suppose they both think that it's better all the way around if no one knows that Jo had an affair with a murderer. If it had just been some "normal", boring man maybe it'd be different but that whole her-lover-killed-his-lover thing is probably a bridge too far to explain. Jo knows and feels guilty about it at least.
Oh, yeah, I think both of them would prefer people not know Jo had an affair with a murderer. Great point.
Society also seems to be much more forgiving of cheating men than they are willing to be for women. It's what's probably best for the family in the long run.

It might be a different story if Sandy hadn't been a murderer. I feel like they would both prefer for people not to know Jo had an affair.
I guess Jo might still be with Sandy if he hadn't been a murderer, so would have added a whole new dynamic to the series.
She hid it, while he seemed more open about Molly. At the end of the day they both cheated...so it's really their dilemma.
