Olivia Is this book worth reading if I didn't enjoy the mazer runner??

I've been seeing mixed thoughts on this series so I picked up TMR however found it somewhat disappointing. Is the second one better?

I don't mean to offend anyone who loves this series but I would love some advice on TST :)

Kelly Brigid ♡ Hmm...it has in a way, a different feel to it then The Maze Runner, yet similar, if that makes any sense. I would recommend you read it and see if you like it, and if you do, I would definitely recommend The Death Cure; though a lot of people apparently don't like it, I think it was the best written amongst the three books in the trilogy, but had a little bit of a disappointing ending....for some people. Hope this helps :)

Shannon Osborne This book is creepier than the maze runner. There are 3 really creepy scenes...
The ending of The Death Cure is a little disappointing too but it is good.

Olivia Thanks so much for the comments! Judging by your opinions I'll give it a go, hopefully I'll enjoy it and move onto The Death Cure :D

Emma I for one loved this series. I've read it twice (the first book 3 times) and I am just in love with the characters. BUT. If you didn't like the first book, I wouldn't recommend continuing on with the other 3. While I thought they were good, the other 3 books weren't as good as the first one.

Bridget I didn't like this series that much but they are somehow compelling reads. I had to read all 4 books once I started the series. I recommend reading on. It's not the best series ever, but it's only a few hours out of your life and you'll feel better for it afterwards, knowing what happens. There is a decent amount of unpredictability, so they are kind of fun to read.

Drew I liked it, I'm reading The Death Cure now, kind of bummed about reading some of the comments above about the ending though lol. Has anyone read the prequel to the series yet?

Yes, I read that last summer. It's alright. I didn't love it but it is definitely a thorough explanation for what's going on in the series and worth the read for that reason alone.

Drew thanks. I plan on reading it either way, just wondering if it's "worth" the time lol

Jeni I liked the first book the best then the third. So the second book was my least favourite. If you didnt like the first you might not like the second but then again everyone is different.

Read it a while ago. It was alright. Wasn't as good as the other books in the trilogy, but I suppose its worth the time ;)

Joel I was sorely disappointed by this series. The second book was intense and a real page turner, but I actually really only liked the first book of the series. The third one, in my opinion, was terrible. That's my opinion though. I am totally cool with other people liking this series though. So please don't be offended.

Drew It must be at least a little popular since they are making a movie. So far the third book has been ok, but not as good as the first two. I feel compelled to finish the series anyway.

Emma The 3rd book was my second favourite in the series! It was very different setting, but I still loved it :)

message 16: by Joel (new) - rated it 3 stars

Joel I felt compelled to finish as well. The movie looks pretty cool. I really liked the first book so probably will watch the movie.

message 17: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma I am sooooooooo excited for the movie!! The actors they have are AMAZING and the trailer was just awesome :D tmr is my favourite book. I have been waiting for this movie for 3 years (since I first read the book) I just cannot wait :')

Olivia I'm so excited for the movie!! Even though I didn't really like the book it's an interesting concept and I really want to see it on the big screen!! and I agree, the cast is perfect Dylan O'Brian is a phenomenal actor :D

Jon No.

message 20: by Drew (new) - rated it 4 stars

Drew Lol, I felt the disdain in that simple answer

Brittany I did not enjoy Maze Runner very much, and tried to read this book and was not able to get through it.

You should probably finish a book before you judge it. In my opinion, the Scorch Trials got better as it progressed.

Yesenia Gomez This book is totally worth reading. This one is my favorite in the trilogy. It has a whole bunch of plot twists and it gets better and better as you read.

message 24: by Lev (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lev I personally hated The Maze Runner but I started the second book anyway and now I love the series! Seriously this second book is the best sequel ever!

Daren i would read the Kill Order before i moved onto the scorch trials... it's a different enough story while still providing background. i didnt really enjoy scorch trials at all save 3 or 4 scenes.

Jackie I'm still kind of winded from the rush of reading this quite strange and exciting story. Even if you found the first book kind of boring, that was pretty much only the start. I have yet to read the third book and I reallly want to know what happens next from the second.

Papaphilly If you didn't like The Maze Runner, then don't bother. I happen to enjoy the series, but while the stories vary, the feeling is the same for the flavor.

Mary Ann Khalil I really liked The Scorch Trials, it was my favourite book out of the series. But that was just me. Maybe you should just start it, and if you don't like it, stop reading, but I will admit that these books take a while until it gets really interesting. Anyway, The Scorch Trials is mostly action, so it's more exciting. Just borrow it from the library if you don't want to spend money on a book you might not like.

You're so right! It seems like most trilogies I read are like that.
