What are you reading in June 2014?
Just finished Skin Gameon audio.=) (LOVED - obviously)
Been reading The Desert Spear during my lunch breaks... man, this is a book that has sat on my desk for YEARS! lol
Just started Bone Crossed on audio.
This week has been somewhat productive. I finally finished The Way of Kings! Then I read a novella The Goddard Affair in the Assassin Without a Name fantasy/noir series. Then I read the graphic novel of The Wraith, which was fantastic. Now I'm working on The Wrong Quarry, which I'm enjoying so far.
Tried House of Leaves...After the rambling intro full of portents and bitching, and partway through the first dull chapter, I tossed it.
Might revisit someday.
Now I need something worth reading...
Wanna read Requiem For A Dream with me? I'm about 40% in so you'll catch up and then lap me in about 20 mins.
Checked the sample for it... Is it supposed to be all run on like that? Spoken words mixed in with the action and whatnot? It seems...weird.
I just looked... doesn't seem that weird to me. In fact I added The Birdman to my Want-to-read list. Looks interesting. :DAnd The Martian is awesome!

I really don't think you want to know... Lol
Agree MrsJ? I guess you've seen my updates then? xD

Well, yes those are the normal ones :p
The Martian is freakin awesome!!
And the Birdman is looking promisisng too, quite dark though.

I do... Have you seen what I read? What I'm reading now? LOL It's some messed up stuff.
I'm off to go see what is so weird about your currently reading books.
DoodlePanda wrote: "Well, yes those are the normal ones :p"Wait, you have secret currently reading books? O_O
THERE'S NO SECRET BOOKS ON GOODREADS! :P
DoodlePanda wrote: "I really don't think you want to know... LolAgree MrsJ? I guess you've seen my updates then? xD "
Yes. And I learned (and then saw by clicking on links) lots of things I didn't want to know about, lol!
OMG. There's this one pic that I CANNOT forget. In desperate need of brain/eye bleach.

You didn't post it - and I don't want to see it again, lol. It was in some thread discussion about the book - and the first post was a pic (not THAT pic).
Oh. I don't read umm... that. I don't get the content warnings though. It seems so... "WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!"
*shrug* I'm not sensitive about content though, so I guess it's a moot point since I don't read it. If I did, though, I'd get annoyed at someone presuming to tell me what I can or can't mentally handle in fiction.

I only read it cause I find it funny. And I am in a group that reads weird stuff on Wednesdays... the worse the book, the better it is :p
Part of me wants to know what doodles reading/read. The rest of me just noped out though. And no, Becks. Never watched the movie. Didn't know there was a movie. Can I watch the movie instead of reading? <_<
Becky wrote: "LOL. Gotcha. I can understand that. Reading weird stuff for the lulz is worth it."I laughed so hard yesterday I ended up feeling a bit sick :p
..or maybe that was just from reading the book... Lol :)

I'm going to pretend that I didn't see that, while at the same time answering it. Mebbe.
I can't believe you've never heard of the movie. OMG, it's... crazy. But I'm KINDA now wanting you to read it with me so I can talk to you about it since you don't have preconceived movie-images in your mind.
But yes... if you wanted to, you could pretty much substitute the movie for the book in this case. It follows the book really closely so far, and the way the movie is filmed really matches the crazy writing style.
Whenever I hear 'Requiem for a Dream' my first thought goes to "What Dreams May Come" - and then I remember... o_O

^yeah. Trust her.
LOL MrsJ. Like I said, I'm not sensitive to content - so, to me, the trigger warnings I see everywhere these days are just lost on me. But I know that there are people who are sensitive, so... I guess warning them is fair, but I just... don't really understand the need to warn adults about the content of the books in a genre they read by choice. *shrug*
But then... everyone's different and I'm just me being my normal insensitive self, so I just shrug and carry on reading whatever crosses my path and leaving others to their own path. :)
I tend to agree with you there, Becky... Surely if you read the blurb and the contents is something you would not like, then surely you would not read it?There are some cases where it comes in handy though, but not very often...
So this monster erotica...Are we talking kaiju porn here? Is it Godzilla and mothra getting it on? Or more like werewolves and unicorns?

All of the above... think of a monster and it has been done, apparently. It's normally monsters vs humans though..

I do think there should be warnings IF the content is clear to begin with (including poor blurbs). Like, you pick up a romance and there's nothing but rape. WTF, dude. If I wanted Rapey McRaperson, I'd go get it.
Or you pick up a UF and it turns out to be Romance. Thanks for that warning. *rolls eyes*
But just content warnings when the content is clear? I'm good.

A lot of monster porn is m/m... you sure about that?

NO! Unicorns are pure and I refuse to relinquish that vision.

I thought it was a spin-off. It's kind of similar with Joe Abercrombie and his First Law Trilogy. His other books can normally be considered as stand alone. Only some of the characters from the previous books make their appearance. I'm not sure actually, I just assume :)
I recently finished The Gospel of Loki and Agatha H and the Airship City. Agatha H was light and fun, I quite liked it. I'm currently reading Midnight Crossroad, my first Charlaine Harris book.
