Cool, Australian music is brilliant. I like The Bee Gees, Air Supply etc.

Have we mentioned a song called "Can't get you out of my head" by Kylie Minogue???

Kangaroo is delicious and the healthiest meat you can eat - some people say its a bit strong (gamey) but I usually have it in a casserole and people can't tell it from beef. There is also an excellent Salami made of it.

A quokka is a macropod - same family as kangaroo and Wallabies - but really, really cute - I couldn't eat one of them. About the same size as a house cat they are an endagered species and found only is Western Australia on Rottnest Island and another island that the name of escapes me.

This looks like fun. Thought I'd have a go. :)
I draw on many of my 'outback experiences' in my writing.
I'm interested in seeing just how true blue I am, so here goes;

1. Heard a kookaburra laughing. >Many times. My sister has four of them ... that are hand fed.<
2. Slept under the stars in a swag. >Many times<
3. Seen a koala in the wild. >There was two living in a tree in my back yard! They are amazingly noisy<
4. Had a barbeque in the backyard. >Most weekends weather permitting.<
5. Watched a summer thunderstorm. > Love it ... the dog not so much.<
6. Worn a pair of thongs. >All the time.<
7. Visited Cape York. >On my bucket list. I live in sight of the most southern point of Oz and have walked to the Prom lighthouse.<
8. Held a snake. >Tried to remove it from the laundry with BBQ tongs but the blighter wrapped itself around my wrist and wouldn't let go!<
9. Sang along with Khe Sanh. > One of my favourite songs.<
10. Drank XXXX beer. >Yes, and some other varieties.<
11. Have seen a shark (not in captivity). >Yes, and a whale.<
12. Have used Aussie slang naturally in a conversation. > Mate ...<

Because cane toads are an introduced species, a massive pest, and a continuing problem. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cane_to...

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments Yes, cane toads are an incubus that destroy all native wildlife they come into contact with.

You can research the kindest way possible to kill them, or the fastest. But having had to sit through the trauma of hearing a beautiful endangered green frog scream for hours while it is being slowly killed by an introduced menace - kill them I did, without regret.

You need to try Vegemite! Here's a tip - have it on hot buttered toast, but spread thinly, otherwise it might come as a bit of a shock LOL. I love it on a fresh bread roll.
