Sherry | 4527 comments wasn't sure where to put this-
isn't Field of Prey one of our monthly reads?
since some of us have read- or are reading it- do you want to start a thread for it ? barry is so good at doing summaries we don't want him to forget what he read :)

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9510 comments Field of Prey is July, Sherry! You can see the list on the home page of our group.

Ann or I will probably set up the chapters later this month. As to chapter descriptions, it's whoever gets there first and wants to do it. Barry does a great job, it's truel I'm still in the middle of Natchez Burning, the book for June, (and awaiting FoP from the library) so I won't get to Field of Prey for a few weeks.

BarryP (barrypz) | 3502 comments I did not note the group read. I have already passed my copy on to others and failed to write chapter descriptions. I'll get back in sync eventually.

BarryP (barrypz) | 3502 comments The new King arrived today. At least I recognize that as a group read.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16982 comments Carol and I put the threads together for posting about Field of Prey, I have a feeling the chapter summaries Carol will provide will make it easy to remember Sherry! :)This link will take you to the folder for the threads:

thanks, ann!
is there a way to set my group page so that i see the individual threads? when i open the group, i just see a list with all the unread threads for everything. makes it rather cumbersome to find the specific threads for the books- or for our regular discussions.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9510 comments Sherry, don't know if there is a way to set the page so when you open the group you see the collapsed topics only. The only way I know to get a topics view is to click on the link for "Discussion". That orders things by topics, although the topics are set open so you still see all the individual posts. But the group reads are listed at the bottom, and there aren't ever that many new posts, so it's easy to scan the top of the list to pick out new posts. It means you can't use the "unread topics" link off to the right, because of course that will bring up all the individual group read topics and posts.
The other thing you could do to get rid of the new book threads every time you use the "unread topics" link is just open each of the first threads that Ann posts. That will stop the long lists from appearing when you click "new posts". Yes, they'll reappear when someone posts something else, but activity isn't that frequent in the group reads either, so you can decide whether you want to open them but not read what's in them, or leave them there as an unread posts. It's easy to find them again when you're ready to post on the book you want.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9510 comments Hmm. I just went back and checked what things look like when I open the group. Once I scroll past the book jackets for the group reads, my list shows only about the first five topics, and everything is collapased to only the topic heading, not the individual posts. That seems like what you want.
Of course once you click "unread topics" to find the new posts you're back to the original problem, to which I've given a potential solution above.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16982 comments I hope all of the extra threads for chapter sections per each group read book don't make it too difficult to maneuver, Sherry.
I am sympathetic to what you described. Are you selecting the discussions link and getting the large long list now with 10-20 more topics?

This is a dilemma and I know one of the perks of our little group is the size of membership and volume of posts. I am on the mobile app right now but will look later for what I think is a setting you might be able to customize.
Carol's description of the group home page is (I think she said - since on the mobile app I can't scroll up while commenting ), "topic folders with two posts each showing". I think I have mine set for five threads under each folder to show, perhaps that is something you can customize. I'll experiment with it on another group where I am not a moderator.
Sorry!!!

BarryP (barrypz) | 3502 comments Goodreads opens for me into a list of unread threads only. I did that by using the "unread" button and then saving the link.

that worked!
i was using an old link that i had and it opened up everything, making it pretty cumbersome.
thanks everyone!
