Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments So I've read Walking Dead Issues, 109-115... with the exception of 111... I dont have that issue yet. lol. I have to see the 5 issues I've read, I've enjoyed... though there was a major lack of Zombies roaming around. It took all the way to the end of 115 for me to even get to see zombies. Issue 110 has the second appearance of King Ezekiel. The king thing is more of an act but everyone he lives with calls him the king and treats him as royality... plus he has a freaking tiger as a pet. Epicness! =D So yeah, I have completed a second challenge, The royalty challenge.

Since The Drawing of Three: The Prisoner Issues #1 and #2 are coming out in September I am reading The Drawing of Three by Stephen King. The Drawing of the Three (The Dark Tower, #2) by Stephen King My edition just happens to have the moon on it. =D

I kinda lost track of my reading goal during the Spring Challenge, but I have high hopes to succeed during this new Summer Challenge :-) I have set my goal to 7 titles and here is what I plan to read:

Task 2: I plan to find a book with "summer" in the title. shouldn't be too hard. I just haven't done it yet :-)

Task 5: This is an easy one. I have lots of titles sitting of my shelf with a moon on the cover. This is a good excuse to finally read them
Pillage (Pillage, #1) by Obert Skye More Twisted Collected Stories, Vol. II by Jeffery Deaver Bad Moon Rising (Pine Deep, #3) by Jonathan Maberry
Bad Moon Rising as a Moon in the Title as well as a moon on the cover - it must be meant to be.

Task 6: I am currently reading Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill. Maybe if I am really ambitious I will read Horns or Twentieth Century Ghosts as well. Maybe. I have to be realistic.

Random Task: I am going to re-read a couple of my favorite childrens books
Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson Purple, Green and Yellow by Robert Munsch

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments I have some bad news to report... well its good news in away too. I quit my job at Dollar General. I found out just how horrible of a company it was to work for once my Manager, whom is awesome, was forced out on leave. The new acting manager is just a horrible person, she belittled me, blamed me for the condition the store was in, put my health and safety on the line when she made me clean out a freezer that died about a week ago that had exploded hamburger meat all in it... she also had me cashiering to people while I was cleaning... The acting manager went as far as to give me so much to do in a day that there was no way I could get it all done... so I felt like I was getting set up for failure. I quit after 3 days like that... a 4th if you count my dad off when I went in to return the store phone because I accidentally took it home... I was in the store for a total of 30 minutes and I got so stressed out from being in there for that long that I called straight up to the DM of my store and told her I resign, effective immediately because of all these issues... which I went into with more detail with her. Anyways, this is the short version of why I quit, I have a longer version on facebook.

I've read some more comics. Sadly no books, just comics.
Amazing Spider-Man #3 (Marvel NOW!) by Dan Slott Outcast, Issue #1 by Robert Kirkman

message 77: by Josh (new)

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments I've read more than just those two comics but it looks like I have to add them to good reads to be able to add them here.

message 78: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (darkstarcassidy) | 257 comments Josh I'm sorry to hear about the way you were treated at your job. My nephew went through something similar at the local movie theater but now he has a job at an amusement park for the summer. Take some time to regroup yourself and read more!!! When one door shuts, another shall open :)

Jenn (darkstarcassidy) | 257 comments I'm reading Scrappy Summer by Mollie Cox Bryan as my next book for the summer challenge.

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments Thanks guys. With each day, I get feeling better. I know when I handed those keys in, I felt relief, except when I had to tell my friend Lance. My old Manager, Leah, has been lifting my spirits as well. She has been there whenever I needed to vent or get advice from. She plans on giving me a great reference. This is two posts she left on my facebook page "You are a great employee, josh, and a very smart person. You put your heart into what you do. Dont let this bad experience pull you down or change who you are! You will overcome, and wherever you go next will be blessed to have you!" This one is about me but she left it as a reply to something a friend of mine said. "He was the acting lead long before his official promotion. I will be a reference for him and his management background. He did a stellar job, and went above and beyond whatever I asked of him." She even unknowningly helped make my day on a 13 hour shift I did when the evil manager asked me to come in 7 HOURS early and stay all day. Leah is a great manager whom has a great taste in books as well. LOL!

Anyways, I've been playing video games for the past few days. I got a three new ones these past 2 weeks. They've been helping me get back to who I am and being more relaxed. Of course one of the games is a Resident Evil title so that helps when its my favorite game series. I also got Assassin's Creed 3 and Bioshock Infinite.

You finished the challenge already? Good for you. Congrats.

message 89: by Josh (new)

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments I am currently reading 'Salem's Lot by Stephen King. It completes the moon on the cover challenge!!! 'Salem's Lot by Stephen King After this I am either going to read the Stand/Eyes of the Dragon or go straight into the Dark Tower series and read all of them back to back. That is what I am planning on doing. Don't know if any of the others will complete a challenge or not but they all seem like fun reads so I guess I can't loose either way! lol

message 90: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3524 comments Thanks for the update, Josh! I read The Stand and The Eyes of the Dragon many years ago and enjoyed them both although i don't really remember the dragon book- the stand is considered by many to be one of his best-definitely an epic story- hope you enjoy :)

message 91: by Josh (new)

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments Thanks. I know both The Stand and The Eyes of the Dragon both feature the same villain whom also stalks the pages of the entire seven volume Dark Tower series. The Dark Tower series what Stephen King considers his greatest epic of all time. From the research I have done trying not to spoil the series for myself, the Dark Tower series is not only a story that stands alone but it also combines a lot of elements and characters from King's other books. I even read Stephen King wrote himself in the series. I read the first Dark Tower novel and loved it. I will be rereading the first one but the revised version that's supposed to flow a lot better than the original version with the entire series. I guess you can probably tell I am overly hyped to read The Dark Tower series.

Jenn (darkstarcassidy) | 257 comments I got to Wizards and Glass and lost interest.

message 93: by Josh (new)

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments That sucks. One of my dad's friends loves the book series. Its his favorite of books. He told me when I get all of them just to read them all back to back. Right now I own the original version of The Gunslinger, the revised and expanded version of The Gunslinger, The Drawing of Three, The Waste Lands, and Wizard Glass. I am waiting for the final three books to get to me from the mail.

Danell (danellbookworm) | 685 comments Started the challenge later than I wanted, but finished Horns by Joe Hill , which works for #6. This book also works for the local library summer reading challenge, a book with a one word title. Great book, well written. I enjoy books were you are drawn into the pages, the plots and you as a reader care about the characters.

Next up Red Dragon (Hannibal Lecter, #1) by Thomas Harris , which works for #7 color in title. Also using this one as a book that was turned into a movie for the library challenge. Come to think of it, should have seen if the library actually has this book, the copy I am reading is one off my own bookcase. Either way it is a win win situation.

Happy Reading!
