it was about a young boy who was maybe like a test subject. i think he had special abilities, i think i remeber him being very smart. if i remember correctly, he had no human contact, and didn't know anything about life outside the place/station/ he was raised in. he had the same routine it seemed like: wake up at a certain time go to bed at a certain time. He had an internal clock where he could tell the minute of every day. one night a girl snuck into his room. he had never met her or seen her before. she started to sneak into his room every night after a security alarm to his room was disabled. she started telling him about life outside the place he was raised in. they formed an alliance to escape the place they were kept and wanted to run off to an island or something they saw a picture of. i think there was some war when they left to keep them in? That's as far as i can remember. it kind of reminded me about that movie "the island".
sorry this might be vague, i read it when i was young, maybe around 1998-99
