Heart of Darkness question

Hi Everyone,
I am hoping you might be able to help me...teaching Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now -does anyone have similar texts to suggest? Thinking along the lines of 'The Fall of Man', 'Man's Heart of Darkness', 'Man's Inner Tumult' or something similar..? I want to try and move beyond colonialist literature, but that might be easiest? I've thought so far of things like Lord of the Flies, Disgrace.....a section of Paradise lost possibly? I've also got an Orwell short essay 'Shooting an Elephant' to get started..... any suggestions of poetry, novels, non-fiction to get started...Thank you in advance....
