Elke (misspider) | 88 comments I wonder which is the correct publication date to put in the book's details. In the front of the book it says June 2013, however I already purchased it at the end of May. The publisher's site says 'around June', amazon tells me June 3rd, and the shop where I actually got it claims May 23. So which one is it?

Btw, the publisher also has a different page count announced than the actual one, but I already changed that.

Scott | 9147 comments I would use the date printed in the book. If you put anything else, someone is only going to correct it later on anyway.

Jessica | 49 comments According to the author site, the publisher site (the "around June" is for when it ships, not when it is released), Baker & Taylor, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble it is June 3, 2014. I don't know who sold you the book, but they'd better hope the publisher doesn't find out.

Emy (emypt) | 5037 comments May 23 IS "around" June.

Put your date in, or put in June if you prefer, as you wish. The month/day bit is less important than the year usually, particularly for traditionally published material.

Mostly I was just curious to know how this is done correctly, but:

That's what I had in mind, too, so I'll leave it at June.

You mean the publisher sets the date the book is allowed to be on sale? Hmm, maybe it's different in Germany... But it definitely was weird reading the book announcement for June 3rd in the official Stephen King newsletter when I already held it in my hands.

Thanks!
