Sons of Destiny
question
What is your opinion of what happens to Darren at the end of the books? Do you think that, because he stopped himself from seeing Steve and Mr. Crepsly, That the books where as though they had not happened?

I personally have given this topic a lot of thought and have come up with a somewhat solution. Fate, or "Des-Tiny" is a tricky thing. There are so many paths that a person can take, and Darren saved himself from such pain and suffering. But do you think that's it? No. Annie and Steve have a child. That means that Steve WOULD come back into contact with Darren at some point, and being the still best friends, Steve would try to tell Darren about the Vampaneze.
Then there is a different theory I have. Darren did not know ABOUT Steve wanting to be a Vampire. But sooner or later he would have told Darren about his plans. And I can bet that he would have at least TRIED to talk Darren into coming with him. Because of their close friendship, I believe that Darren would end up being in the Vampire/ Vampaneze world whether he wanted to or not.

But if there IS always a chance that Darren refuses Steve's offer, and Steve is mostly considerate towards Darren, from their relationship in the early parts of book 1, so, he might not FORCE Darren. But there is a chance he'd give into Steve's emotional blackmails. But if Darren DOESN'T become a vampire, then might at least find out that vampires are real and when he gets the diary of the actual vampire Darren Shan, he might take it seriously, and ACTUALLY write the Saga of Darren Shan.
