SOLVED. YA book set in Bergen County, NJ. [s]

Hi,
I read a book a few years ago. The author is Indian.
It was YA - based on highschool girls. It was set in NJ, I think the town was either Woodcliff Lake or Washington Township.
The main character was Indian and the most popular girl was Asian.
I keep googling it but nothing comes up.
anyone know which book I'm talking about??

no I don't think so. It was about this very smart Indian girl with high grades, I think she had a college interview, but they wanted to see what activities and friends she had other than academics. so she tried to make friends with the "popular" girls and started dressing like them, etc.
