Toby | 2 comments I read this around 1980, paperback.
Children's chapter book (8-12)
Story is about a club of kids who solve crimes.
The only detail I remember is that their clubhouse was a caravan in a scrapyard. I think to get to it you went through a hole in the fence then through a tunnel within the scrap.

Andy Love | 2019 comments Sounds like "The Three Investigators" The Secret of Terror Castle https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_I...

One of the kids has an uncle (I think) who runs a junkyard, and the kids build their clubhouse in a RV under the junk.

http://www.threeinvestigatorsbooks.co... says "Headquarters for The Three Investigators is a damaged 30-foot mobile home trailer within the salvage yard which has been cleverly hidden from view by stacks of junk which surround it. It is accessible only by several secret passages and hidden entrances including their favorite, Tunnel Two. Headquarters contains a small laboratory, a dark room, and an office with a desk, typewriter, telephone, tape recorder and reference books. All of their equipment was rebuilt from junk that came into the salvage yard."

Andy Love | 2019 comments Great. Glad to help (I read these books back in the 1970s).

lucky little cat (luckylittlecat) Loved, loved, loved the Three Investigators. It was an "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" series, and the fifteen or so that we owned always had a place if honor on the shelves.
