Kaedryn | 1 comments And no,its not Black Jewels trilogy. This book was about women whonwere bonded to gemstones, and the type if stones indicated their abilities. (I.e amethysts were healers, citrines were fightrs, etc.) I believe the main character was an Obsidian or Onyx. They live in a seperatearea and are generally worshipped, until a group of men comes to take them over. I read this book in the early 2000's, but I don't remember year it was published.

Suzette Kath | 61 comments I do believe that I know this one. It is the Witch World series by Andre Norton. The only ones who get a gem are the girls who test positive for the power.
The hero in the first book for the series is the first MALE to ever show the power.
The gals only are witches while they are virgins normally. It upsets the balance when the hero's wife found out that even though she isn't a virgin, still has her talents. In fact that is the name of the power the witches have is Talent.
Wish I had seen this sooner.
