The Devil's Dreamcatcher
Donna Hosie
"How did you die?" Why does every job application in hell ask that question? My reaction to the first sentence was I thought it was interesting and It kinda made me want to read more of the story. So far the story is about a sixteen year girl who died and her name is Olivia and the story starts off with her applying for jobs in hell which is where she went after she died.

Eileen
Ottessa Moshfegh
"I looked like a girl you'd expect to see on a city bus, reading some clothbound book from the library about plants or geography, perhaps wearing a net over my light brown hair." The first line is interesting because the author is describing herself in a weird way--about how she fits the ordinary expectation. I guess it makes me think that she is hiding something about herself--like she appears one way but we will discover she is not this person at all. Eileen is the main character and narrator and the setting starts in 1964 in New England. She is a lonely and homely girl who lives with an abusive alcoholic father and who works as a secretary at the local private prison for teenage boys.

Target
Kathleen Jeffrie Johnson
"Tackled from the rear, Grady buckled, picking forward to the ground-his arms grabbed and jerked back and up." The first sentence made me more interested to read more of the book because it sounds like Grady is being kidnapped. Grady, the main character, transferred to a new high school and he is sort of an emo. He wanted to sit in the back of the class but this black kid fought him for it and he almost called him the N word. On the first day of school he already made an enemy

Beneath
Roland Smith
”Exacly one year to the day after my brother, Coop, ditched me, I got a package in the mail.“ This made me want to read this book more because it made me curious I want to know what is in the package and why did he send it. So far I've met Coop who is the oldest brither in story and Pat who is the youngest sibling. So far Pat is just talking about of how hos life was and what he would do before Coop bailed on him amd his parents.

City of Bones
Cassandra Clare
"You've got to be kidding me" the bouncer said, folding his arms across his massive chest." This line surprised me because I was wondering if the book was taking place or if it was just a temporary place as a setting. Clary and Simon are the main characters and thy are at the Pandemonium Club dancing for some fun. When they get there a guy with blue hair could not get in because the bouncer wouldn't let him in until the blue haired guy gave him an explanation on why he looked like they. Clary soon finds out that other people are trying to kill the blue haired guy as she steps into a storage room that is prohibited for regular people at the club.

"All this started about a year and a half ago"
What I thought when I read this first sentence was wanting to read more this is the first time in a long time where I actually want to keep reading
So far in the book he has played 3 basketball games he has won all 3 his first game wasn't as good as the 2nd and 3rd. In the 3rd game he started off bad then played extremely well because he completely blocked out the thought of being filmed. His coach has been planning a way to get Jonas to play college ball.

Labyrinth Lost
Zoraida Cordava
"The second time I saw my dead aunt Rosario ,she was dancing".
I was confused at first but then I understood what she meant after reading more into it.
Lula makes an ambrosía thinking that it will help Alex powers come faster.Alex feels guilt for hiding how she doesn't want to be a bruja. She feels as if she was born to not be a bruja. Some characters are Maks , Lula , Rosaria , Rose , Alex and there mother.

Bright Before Sunrise
Tiffany Schmidt
"You dropped something ." "I totally miss that the girl is talking to me." So far in the book the two main characters I have meet are Jonah and Brighton. Right on is a popular girl and Jonah is the new kid who hasn't made friends since he got there. Jonah is not happy we're he is and unhappy with his stepdad. And Brighton lost her dad five years ago and still hasn't gotten over it. I like the book so far and can't wait to see what happens next.

The Safest Lies
Megan Miranda
"The black iron gates used to be my thing about the house" the first sentence of my book just said so,etching about the setting and not anything that would make me want to keep reading right away but as I kept reading it got better. In the exposition so far it said that the main character Kelsey lives in Vermont and that it is autum. And it introduces some other characters which are Leo which is the guy that she is tutoring who is friends with everyone and gets distracted easily and her friend Ryan who is energetic and who is also friends with Leo.

Ashfall
"I was home alone on that Friday evening." This made me think about the title of the book and looking at the cover it looks like there is going to be a disaster of some sort. So far in this book who I believe to be the main character's house just burned down.

Beauty's Daughter
Carolyn Meyer
"When I was young, my mother uses to tell me tales about her early life." What are the tales and why are they important? The first sentence is important because Hermiones mother's actions are the cause of the conflict in the book. If you know her backstory then you can understand why future events will happen. And for a Greek princess, Hermione, all of these events change how she will live for the rest of her life. Now that a war in going on between Greece and Troy, hermione must learn how to deal with the Gods and her people. While this is all happening Hermione must find a way to conceal her love for the warrior Orestes.

The Mortal Instrument City of Heavenly Fire
On the day Emma Carstairs's parents were killed, the weather was perfect. I was a bit confused. I didn't know this character, this is the last book in the series. I didn't know how this related to the series. Sebastian wants Clary and Jace back. He will do anything to get them even if it means killing. He is turning shadow hunters against each other. He is turning them evil. Clary, Jace, Isabelle, Simon, and Alec have found them selves in the demon realms to find the down worlders. They have been kidnaped and the queen of the fair folk has been helping Sebastian. They will do anything even risk there lives to stop Sebastian.

I Hunt Killers
By: Barry Lyga
"By the time Jazz got to the field outside town, yellow police tape was everywhere, strung from stake to stake in a sort of drunken, off-kilter hexagon."
My reaction to this first sentence was to keep reading because so,thing is obviously wrong and rushed to block people off. So far in the book Jazz, the son of an imprisoned serial killer, has snuck off and witnessed the crime scene of a murder. Jazz believes it was a serial killer and that he can help because the victim, a Caucasian female, was found in a field nude and missing multiple fingers yet only one finger was found at the scene. Jazz believes that using his knowledge taught to him by his father he can figure out if it was indeed a serial killer or if it was just a freak accident.

Morgan Matson
Since You've Been Gone
"The list arrived after Sloane had been gone two weeks." My reaction was that it was a good way to start a book. I read the inside of the book cover so I had basic knowledge on the book. That part was very important. So far I've met the main character Emily. She is very sad Sloane is gone. Even paranoid. She keeps checking her house but is constantly disappointed. She is about to find the list from Sloane.

The Mark Of Athena
Rick Riordan
"Annabeth thought that she had seen everything, until she saw the exploding statue."
The sentence had me confused and it was a little bit funny.
In the exposition of the book so far it has introduced me to a character Annabeth. Annabeth is a 16 year old blond girl with a sense of humor and pride. The book also informed me that Annabeth is searching for her lost boyfriend.

Allegiant
Veronica Roth
"I pace in our cell in Erudite headquarters, her words echoing in my mind: My name will be Edith Prior, and there is much I am happy to forget." My first thought is that why would she be happy to forget. If I were her I would be grateful to have all those experiences that she had gone through learning about the many things that had happen. Such as Tris being selected for her specialization which was one of the first events.
