Silly question, is "Leo et Popi" the same as "Tom and Pippo"?

Anyhow, "Leo et Popi" is one of the holdouts I have yet to read to my daughter on the 3+ list. However, I realized today that it looks just like the Tom and Pippo books by Helen Oxenbury. Does anyone know if these are the same books just with differing names depending on language?
